| Re: Wii! Aye, but that's mini-games rather than full-on "proper" ones. Though lots of fun. In other news, the Wii shop is open, so I got Mario 64. ![]() |

| Re: Wii! One of the guys I work with has 6 (yep, six!) of them either in his house right now or coming today. He preordered about 4 and sent his brother to queue for hours at the local ASDA to make sure he got a couple at midnight! Hopefully I'll get me brubby mits on one when he comes in next week! |

| Re: Wii! As I was up and sober I decided to pop down to Tesco's at the Meadows in Camberley. I joined the end of a queue at 23:50 and shortly after midnight was told that they only had 47 Wii's and the 47th recipient was about halfway down the queue. Apparently people had been queuing since 14:30 and their allocation was gone by 22:30. Oh well, saved my dosh to fight another day. Nevermind I'll just buy another 360 game or 2. | Re: Wii! I agree with Dr Z; I want to actually get a play with one (on something I want to play, like Zelda, not just a thrash on Wii Sports) before I decide. |

| Re: Wii! Well i've had a dabble with zelda, and maybe i'm missing something here, but I can't get the damned horse to jump, and i'm already resenting the long dialogue scenes that just seem to break things up and drag on. I'm more into something i can just dive into. Maybe when i get home and hook to the net (because i have to authenticate over wifi here, and the Wii lets me enter the key and then doesn't pick up the 2nd authentication screen.) then i'll probably grab MarioKart or something as well. Now the question is - how does the DS link to the system? Does it allow you to use the DS as a controller, as there is no info on this bit on the net........ |

| Re: Wii! Long cutscenes don't bother me too much per se; I started console gaming with FF7 and a grey playstation. What I'm more concerned about is how I personally would get on with the controller. |

Anyone remember the Dreamcast controllers that had a little plug in LCD tamagotchi style thing going on? If you could use your DS like a controller and link like that, it'd be great. MarioKart being the most obvious application too - race on the big screen, maps and ppower-ups etc on the DS...... Still, just enjoyed a few rounds of pugilism - oh what fun. Still appalled at the name "Wii Sports" though. Tried offering a game to a few as they wandered in the office.......cue looks of abject horror. Filthy lot these Academics..... | |

| Re: Wii! There's only a few games out so far though. I'm sure the DS will get used before too long. Oh , and the dreamcast VMUs were a nice idea but the system was buggy so it ran down the battery when they were plugged into the controllers ![]()
