| Wrexham/Chester Fuel Protests - Sat 28th June Just in case there is anyone in the area this Saturday, a fuel protest is planned between the Wrexham industrial estate and Chester. They'll be going up the A483 after 10am so expect some delays. I don't think they are planning to go up the M53, but I've heard a few people suggest they should... |

| Re: Wrexham/Chester Fuel Protests - Sat 28th June I was in Rotherham at 6am so I missed it. Apparently there was a really good turnout. My parents house was along the route and apparently it took nearly 20mins for all the vehicles to pass. It hasn't made any of the local news though so will probably have no effect, I suspect there are loads of people who didn't even realise it was going on. |

Yet another bunch of people making a trip they didn't need to, meaning that they have to fill up again that bit sooner! ![]() Why do I feel like Basil to the protestors' Manuel? When will they realise that there are only two effective ways to protest about the price of fuel: 1. Don't drive for a week, putting a dent in demand (which is the easiest to do, but would need the most participants to work); and 2. Blockade the oil company offices and trading exchanges, making the people responsible for the prices aware of how you feel as a protestor (which would need fewer people, but would be harder to orchestrate and would probably infringe our liberty-preserving anti-terror laws!) Making all these unnecessary, fruitless journeys actually benefit the oil companies! My protest, like that of many others I think is rather more existential: I drive more efficiently and no longer use the car unless I have to. That's my drop out of the ocean of the fuel companies' profits... ![]()
