Just been reading the smoking ban thread:

It's come at a funny time as i'm in the process of stopping (day 4) already i'm thinking this is crap my life is no longer complete i really enjoyed smoking.

just wondered who's a smoker and who's not?

male 27 - still a smoker (trying to quit)

Kinda, been trying not to start smoking again the whole of this year after quitting last year. I think I've tipped the balance now towards none smoker but still have the occasional fag, although its been about a week since I last had one, and in total, last month probably only smoked about 10.

Good luck, nicotine replacement therapy helps, personally used the gum.

Gave up two years ago last christmas after smoking for about ten years (I'm just over 30

). I'd previously 'given up' after reading the Allen Carr book, but that lasted about 3 weeks. This time I simply ran out of fags when no shops were open and didn't bother starting again after the break - without the build up and telling everyone and his dog about it there was less pressure on me and it seemed relatively easy. It still took the first 6 months to a year before I stopped drooling at the faintest whiff of smoke in the pub (thank god for the smoking ban!) but I'm at the stage where I really don't think about it anymore. Except for how much more money I have, and how I don't miss standing out in the cold and rain.

Stick with it, it's worth it. If you can take up some sport (if you don't already) after a month or so, you'll really feel the benefit.

Surely you haven't quit since last year, but only since your last fag?

I did the same and had moments of weakness (esp. when drunk) but I gave up when I decided to stop smoking, not after I smoked my last drunken ciggy.

I quit in July last year and didn't smoke again at all for about 5 months. Towards the end of last year and the start of this year, some things happened and I found myself reaching for the fags. Wasn't smoking everyday but was smoking a couple of packs a week. Thats down to a couple of cigarettes a month, hopefully soon to stop.

don't mind comments along with the info i.e wish i'd stopped, or you should stop or, keep smoking i'm 60 fit as a fiddle and still get the ladies lol.

One other thing, you only realise after you stop just how bad smokers smell...and how far away you can smell them.

male, 39, ex-smoker been clean for 5 years now, packed in when i started dating a non-smoker, married her, had a kid, got divorced but even that never drove me back to the fags. I used the gym too, it does help. A mate of mine bought a new car on finance with the money he used to spend on fags each month so that he couldn't afford to smoke and had a great car to take his mind off it!

Quit in March this year, had a couple of weak moments and but remained clean, started to do sports again and feel really good now

Maybe a "helpful" event was I became the eyewitness of my girlfriend´s dad stroke... the doctors then told him the smoking was the main reason.
