Mine was when I owned a Audi Quattro 2.2 Coupe (it was lush) and I decided to stupidly race someone off the lights. I came to a series of left, right corners and booted the throttle just as I turned the wheel. The Ar*e end turned round and I hit a VERY steep kerb, smashed the front wheel, suspension, and drive shaft, in turn ruined the gearbox.
We all know how much Quattros are to fix, don't we ? Taught me in my teens to SLOW DOWN !

****ting my octavia over a low roundabout just after getting it, expensive on this. needed 2 tyres, 2 wheel, 2 shocks, set an airbag off and possibly something else i have forgotton.

When i was in my teens and had my first car whilst learning to drive (remember these facts!)

i was out with some friends when a gorgeous lad drove up along side me and started trying to say something and was smiling at me, i really thought i was 'in there' until i realised that i had actually forgotton to switch my lights on when i pulled away.

Do I need to say what mine is?! lost back end, mounted bank, rolled over twice, skidded to stop on my roof. Fabia written off, lesson learned!

Yeah, it was NOT the UR Quattro (turbo monster) but nethertheless, near identical without the big arches and 2.1 turbo lump. I spent thousands on a restoration and had it for 2 glorious years

Was in a road rally (long years ago) in my modded 2-litre Vitesse. Discovered a previously undiscovered hump back bridge at, well lets say, high speed

Had what felt like the biggest yump in history. Landed very heavily and somehow managed to punch a hole in the........

diff, of all places The sump was funnily enough undamaged , which is more than could be said about the crown wheel and pinion

Crashed a car when I was 17 after only 3 lessons, one of my passengers/partners in crime was the local undertakers daughter.

..and yeh, we've done the discount jokes.

One week after passi ng my test, out in my dad's MK2 Golf at college...
Offered a mate a lift home, being onf ot ehf rist of our group to get a full license and be let loose. Small detour to the library meant i had to reverse round a corner.
And i still swear, to this day, that the lampost jumped 3 feet to get dead centre on the rear bumper. Cost me twenty five quid for the part from a scrappies, and another 25 in BBQ food and beer to get another friend to come fit it.

Then in a Pug 309, deep winter. had a "rush of blood to the head" and drifted round an icy corner. Went in too fast, touched the brakes and stuffed the front suspension on one side when it hit the kerb. Actually managed to push the wheel 2 inches further back than the other side, so i fixed it as best i could and then bought an Octy a few months later.....

Which i ripped off a front gearbox mount and punched a hole in the front sub-frame after a disagreement with a raised, but invisible, manhole cover.

and of course, the obligatory

Nearly fifteen years ago ....

I left our local football ground after a very harsh dispute with my girlfriend.
Walked up to my car , jumped in , started it and rushed away like an idiot.
Squeaking tyres etc.. etc.. Everyone on the field and around now realized
that something is going on.
As I arrived the crossing I went around in a nice drift, oversteered too much
and slided over the oncoming track ... hitting a parked car head to head.

In front of more than 300 eye witnesses ...

Guess how happy I am that
digicams and the internet did not exist that time...

In 1998 I managed to destroy a very lowered Polo MKI
on a speed bump...
With my father sitting beside me
I was in a hurry and had to take a unknown way through the outskirts.
As I realized the Speed bump I was much too fast.
An emergency breaking made all worse , because we approached the bump
still too fast with completely standing tyres and plunged suspension.
( the Polo was lowered 80 millimeters )
What a cracking sound
I left a bit of a tooth and had bitten off a tiny piece of my tongue.
My dad was luckily not injured but scared as hell.

The Polo had been sold for small change

A week after passing my test went to borrow a works car, (a petrol Vauxhall vectra). having learnt to drive in a diesel corsa i wasn't used to how easy it is to stall petrol cars... I Stalled the car 3 times in the car park, and once halfway across a main road whilst trying to turn right at a reasonably busy time of the day.

I was shaking like a leaf and couldn't get the thing started. people from the cars on the road i was blocking ended up pushing me back into the side road.

had a phobia abou8t driving petrol cars for years after that, and when i needed to use works cars i always tried to borrow an automatic BMW from one of the company directors.

also had a slight accident in my previous car where i took a roundabout a little too fast in the wet, hit an oil patch and collided with the barrier on the exit road at about 10mph. that cost me £700 to fix, meant i lost my boro season ticket, and also meant i couldn't get tickets for the league cup final that we won gutted!
