Default Vrs Tdi Remap

As you can see, I am quite new to the forum, although have been reading for the last year.

I purchased a Silver Vrs Tdi Combi last September and have been very impressed with car. All in all, probably the best I have owned.
However, as my last car was an Impreza WRX with 270bhp (remapped), I decided that I would like some more power/torque and have been doing loads of research about another remap.

From what I have read, it would appear that when cost and quality are considered together, Performance Torque in Wolverhampton would be a good bet.
I have been speaking to Will and have discussed the remap which he would be more than happy to do, plus he seems like a top bloke.
I mentioned to him about the possibility of a group buy, the same as he has offered on the Seat forums. Will seemed very interested and said he might sort something out for Easter.

For those that haven't seen it, Will was offering £40 off the cost of a remap if he had 5 people interested and £65 if he could get 10. This was on top of the discount for forum members, making a massive saving over normal.
For example, only £255 for a stage one remap on the PD170 engine. Seems like a steal to me. What do you guys think?
The group buy would obviously be open to all models.

Who's mapping code does this use? Does he understand the issues with the DPF?

Chris

EDIT : Not all vRS use the same ECU.

Wink Re: Vrs Tdi Remap

would this be limited to just TDi? or would the TFSi VRs also be included?

You may get more response if this was in the Group Buy feeler section

Didn't want to step on Will's toes, so just gauging interest really. As far as I can tell, all models would be included, be it diesel or petrol, fabia or octavia etc etc.

The reason I think Performance Torque would be the right move for me is the price and all of the postive feedback on this forum, and the rest of the VAG group, particularly the Seat forums. I was initially looking at a Revo map, but by local dealer in Exeter wanted £500+vat, which for a genric map seems quite high, especially as I paid that for a 5 hour custom map on the scooby!

I therefore started searching the forums and could not find a single piece of negative feedback on the P-Torque remap or the service from Will.
I contacted Will and have had 2 lengthy chats and asked many questions. He has developed the map for the Vrs Tdi himself and says that there are no issues at all with the DPF, hence the slight delay in releasing the map. The map is a generic map updated to the ecu via the obd port and if i remember correctly the figures are about 210 bhp and 320 lbs.

I also asked about wear on other components especially the clutch, and was informed no issues with other components whatsoever.

For other related threads do an advanced search and look for posts by 'p-torque'. Also google the same and click on the second thread. Should be a link to all the recent Seat forum posts. Also, the Performance Torque website is advertised on hear.

Before anybody asks, no I don't work for Will , just seems a very good offer if it happens.

Cheers, Nick.

If you want to arrange a Group Buy then please have a read of the rules and then once satisfied post it in the Group Buy section.

If you want I can move this thread there for you.

Sorry, no i'm not trying to arrange a group buy, will leave that to Will if (hopefully) he decides to do it. I was just trying to spread the word that it might be happening in the near future, so people can start to save those pennies.

This is interesting as currently the only people who seem willing to map the vRS TDI are Superchips and Revo (around £600 ), both of whom had problems with the DPF (iirc) . Whilst I have heard nothing but good things about P-Torque, I would be very suprised if thay can map the TDI for that price.
However I would be very happy to be proved wrong

I am pretty sure the normal price is around £380-£400, so that would make it similar to other independent tuners, however, with Briskoda discount that brings it down to £320, then the group discount on top, £255. So, I am sure you agree, a bargain.

There is currently a group buy for P-Torque remaps on seatcupra.net

again to echo the praise for P-Torque.
I had mine done there and am very very pleased wit the outcome. Had a really really good chat with Will about remapping etc and was able to answer every weird question i asked him so he obviously knows his stuff

Yeah, aware of that one on the Seat forum, although I think it has reached the prescribed limit of 10.

I'd be surprised if there was a maximum of 10 more likely a minimum.

I would be interested in this - depending on whether the remap is easily traced or hard to spot after being done. Brand new car so need to be careful with warranty!!

Why do you want a remap done Gary? I would say to increase performance and make your car accelerate more quickly etc?? I assume that you would want to feel this difference every time you drove the car.............. As would anyone else who drove it

Very good Stu

I mean if the remap could be easily found by the stealer after it was done surely I would be in trouble regarding warranty and PCP - so if this is the case it would be a non starter for me.

If once the remap is done will it be easily found by the stealer when servicing??

a remap can be found if your looking for it.

going for a drive in it is normally a good start but after that they would have to look alot closer really

Yes the point I was, albeit subtley, trying to make was that anyone simply driving the car would know it was mapped - no need for any diagnostics etc.

If you have concerns then switchable is the route for you.

Stu, I though the PD ECU was unable to host switchable maps?

I know CC, SC Bluefin and Oettinger can't or don't offer PD switching even though they all offer FSI-T switching.
