Olympus SP-570uz? Any users

Am considering upgrading my little Panasonic LX-1.
This Olympus bridge camera has some good reviews, but, some
reports of it being a little tricky to operate?
Anyone any opinions or possible alternative recommendations?

Cheers.

General concensus (i gather from most review sites) is that of the new 18 -time zooms it is not as good as the Fuji, the Panasonic being even better (though from perusing the full size piccys the Fuji seems too be quite a bit better than the Panasonic in low-light i.e. quality wise).

well after much deliberation i went for the pana fz8 over the fz18... the 18x zoom is only useful if you have a tripod... having said that the fz8 will do 18x optical but only @ 3mp.. mind you the fact that its on offer @ 149 in comet makes it even more attractive.

All wrong
How can they get away with that.
Touch wood - our Fuji s602Pro has been faultless - and I've taken countless thousands piccies with it.

Back on topic - can supply links to 18 times zooms reviews if leeland wants ?

Thanks for comments, will not go for Pansonic(s) as there still seems to be sensor issues
(my Lx-1 is razor sharp in good light, falls down in low light/higher Iso).
Any new purchase will get a lot of use on sunsets etc, curious to know more about
Fuji s602, is this a current model? Could only find reviews on s8100fd bridge camera.
Can't find any online galleries for Olympus SP-570.
Bit gutted about sensors on Panasonics, easy to use and razor sharp lenses/ well made.

Cheers.

s8100fd is current Fuji 18 times zoom.

Olympus SP-570 UZ Review

"The SP-570 UZ has a couple of irritating shortcomings and it's a poor choice for those who like to shoot in low/dim light and those who shoot primarily action, but for just about everyone else (in my opinion) this camera stands head and shoulders above the bloated long-zoom digicam field."

TBH if I were choosing I think it would be the Fuji

As you say, if only the Panny had a good sensor

Actually - going to this review (which compares the three camera's performances at different ISOs - 'Compared to' several pages) - the Panasonic's performance is the equal of the others i.e. better in some areas and worse in others.

After much thought I'm not going for any of them, I did think about the Fuji as they are
cracking in low light, and I know its fickle, but a plastic mount for tripod and a couple of
other things put me off.
Really frustrating that one make trumps another on one thing/gets trumped back on
something else! The clincher for me is that my brother (40 yesterday) got a digital SLR
for his birthday (Olympus E510) he's chuffed to bits with it.
Think I'll save the pennies, maybe next year go the whole hog and get an SLR, Sony and
Olympus seem to do some good affordable ones, and Fuji, here we go again...
Will be posting for opinions again when the time comes, cheers again....
