| Re: Third Party Perception Good article, I thought about this myself many times. Its very easy to put the hammer down to overtake and get back in quickly, but the person your overtaking no matter what speed your going at will always say your flying it. As the article says I'd go a lot smoother now and not as quick by them, although if I start seening a car in the distance I rather get the manouver completed as soon as.

| Re: Third Party Perception So the moral is, if you're going to drive like an idiot make sure there are no witnesses ![]() People's perception of you is an important factor in maintaining road-karma, but there are always some people who get upset by being overtaken and you're not going to know that until you've upset them, by which time the best you can do is thank them/apologise to them and forget about it.... One thing I've found which eases this is to make sure you blend into a gap after an overtake, rather than storming past them, then being hard on the brakes as you pull in behind the next car. Also picking whether an overtake is worthwhile, eg I can see a 30mph sign in the distance so is the person I'm overtaking going to appreciate being held up by me driving at 30mph. Chris

| Re: Third Party Perception Sometimes even when you overtake them comfortably with plenty of room in quite a powerful car that would obviously have no problem slotting back in before, say, a left hand bend, you still get headlamp flashes etc. No accounting for some people, is there, Chris? |

| Re: Third Party Perception I suspect the roar of that gorgeous V8 may have woken them up/been a little intimidating, although I personally thought it was a text book overtake ![]() ![]() Chris
