VW Group Option Codes Decoder
With VW anyway, if you go into the parts department and ask them to print out a "CAR DATA SHEET" this will provide you with all a listing of what your car is "made" of. Just give them your VIN or maybe even your reg number.

There used to be a site that did it from your VIN number.

I think it was part of OIL Shop Uleiuri de motor si filtre - I can't find it on there now though.

Does the .ro indicate a Romanian site?

That is an excellent site for a detailed decode by VIN, including the build date of the car.
