| Site Sponsor | J, I always replace the hose clip you could reuse it though... and most of the cars are warm/hot when I change them, probably better done on a cold engine! Oh and make sure you don't have the ignition on, I know you're not that stupid though! ![]() |

| Well, a little latter than I thought but here goes, my experience of the 4bar upgrade: Things didn’t go quite to plan, after fitting the 4bar fpr and reflashing with the 4bar software the result was a dead car – it refused to start. After a lot of fiddling, head scratching and calls to both Revo UK and Revo US, the root of the problem was found to be the Becker H/U fitted to the car. Both the trial program and 3bar program had been flashed into the car without problem previously but that was before I switched over the H/Us. James checked the car comms before starting the flash, which is a matter of course for cars who’ve had their H/Us changed apparently, but everything looked OK. It usually doesn’t pose a problem, I know Rich1068 has been flashed successfully with a Blaupunkt H/U in. During the actual flash things obviously went a bit pear shaped though. The net result of this comms error was that the immobiliser shut down the whole system - I was in Chesterfield without a car! These ‘brown stuff meets fan’ scenarios are when you really find out what kind of customer service a company offers and I am pleased to say both JBS and Revo (mainly US I think) came up trumps. JBS loaned me their van for the night such that I could get home and to work the next day while Revo US worked on a fix. Revo offered to sort/replace anything that was needed to repair the car but in the end provided a software solution, the ecu was completely erased then reinstalled. At about 11am today, after a courtesy call at 9am to let me know they were working on it, the call came to say that all was well and working again, the 4bar program was in and running and everything was back to normal. So, a big As for the 4bar program, I haven’t actually had much time to explore it yet, it seems both torquier and smoother than the 3bar but I’ll wait till I’ve got a few more miles under my belt before I comment fully. Watch this space… Last edited by DaveH; 08-10-2004 at 16:49. |

| The van was quite special, the suspension was so hard I was desperate for the toilet when I got home! I've just had a wee drive out to the DVD shop, inital impressions are very good. To those with 3bar Revo, it feels much like the difference between LB9, T4 and HB3, T5 only on top of what HB3, T5 provides - I like !! Its also the first time I've seen the traction control/ESP kick in on dry roads !! More detail to come... |
