| Hi, I'm getting my cambelt and additional gubbins done at the end of the month and just wondering if Skoda disconnecting the battery will cause any issues with the Re-Map settings ? Should i just make sure that they know its been re-mapped so as not to play with the settings when putting it all back together Thanks in advance Ross |

| Re: Battery Disconnection and Re-Map Disconnecting the battery should have no effect on the re-map in your car as the map is written to non-volatile memory, NV-RAM, in the ECU, a bit like the SD-card in your camera or mobile phone or a USB memory-key on your computer. These flash-memory devices do not need electricity to maintain the integrity of the data written to them. Anyone doing the work you describe would have no need to know the car is re-mapped or any good reason (or even facilities) that I can think of to mess with the map. When they connect their diagnostic equipment to the car, the re-map won't even be detectable, AFAIK. If this is a Skoda franchised work-shop I would hesitate to tell them about the re-map, as it may give them an easy out in the case of problems.
