Hi Volume Fuel Pump & Stage II+ - 2.0TFSI

I know you guys are aware of the release of new components that replace the internals of the fuel pump which eliminates the infamous fuel cut issues on the 2.0TFSI.

I understand you are working on mapping for the Audi S3, Leon Cupra R and Golf GTi Edition 30 but what's happening with everyone else who are running from the base 200bhp platform, when is that likely to happen?

We (as in all four marques Audi, VW, Skoda & SEAT) are all anxious for the development of this product and was hoping you could give us some indications on time scales.

PS. What are the issues (if any) going ahead with this modification to the fuel pump without changing the map, in my case REVO StageII?.

Re: Hi Volume Fuel Pump - 2.0TFSI

I did tell Kev that I'd drop him a line this week but so far haven't managed to. If I get some news I'll let you know.

I would imagine there wouldn't be any issues with adding the pump to a car with your kind of mods Steve, the pump in question is a higher volume pump and will therefore flow more fuel but the engine will only use what it requires and the rest will be returned via leak off. What you might find though is that if you were suffering fuel cut the increased flow may smooth that out.

Does this new pump mean that overall fuel economy is going to be affected to it's detriment?

Re: Hi Volume Fuel Pump - 2.0TFSI

You won't be forcing more fuel into the cylinders as the amount is carefully controlled by the injectors, with your current map it shouldn't make a difference. However a new map would be able to make use of the increased flow and thus more could be used and in theory consumption would increase.

Dont think there is requirement for a modified map for a new fuel pump, the fuel system is designed to remain at a constant fuel pressure throughout all of the engines running.. WOT etc. you would only need a different map if the overall fuel system pressure changed(like on the 1.8t, you could swap out the 3bar fpr to a 4bar item with a map to suit for a bit extra power) or if Revo have held back on the tuning because of this problem (doubtful considering its only an issue in certain circumstances)

Re: Hi Volume Fuel Pump - 2.0TFSI

Col

There isn't a requirment as such for a new map but there would be benefits. The fueling on the TFSi has been held back by many tuners because of the fuel cut problem and thus more flow available would allow them to increase injected quantity.

This is what REVO have been doing, they've been trying to get more from the cars with the pump fitted and ultimately I think it will become part of their Stage III package.

Re: Hi Volume Fuel Pump - 2.0TFSI

There's a fair amount of adjustment in the current stage2 programs, that level of adjustment is pretty much the limit when it comes to the capacity of the turbo. However most people will have to be running low settings due to the limitations of the stock fuel pump, one of the things we'll be wanted to test is whether the current stg2 has enough headroom to make the most of the engine when combined with an uprated fuel pump. From what I've seen there's probably more than enough. On the higher spec K04 based S3, LC, Ed30 engines there will be much more gain than the K03 based ones. No harm in fitting one though and playing with the settings for the time being.

Hmmm, Stage2+ could be an interesting one to look at if a current stage2 car happened to visit us with a fuel pump fitted!

This pump would go perfectly with a K04 upgrade kit... I wonder if anyone would be interested in such a thing!

Re: Hi Volume Fuel Pump - 2.0TFSI

I'll have my Autotech pump installed (as soon as it arrives) and I'm currently on Revo Stage 2.

I would be more than happy to help sorting out a new map, if required

Great stuff... once someones got a pump fitted give us a shout at the office 01327 301 901. Someone will be able to take your details and we'll sort some dates out.
I'm not going to be in until the middle of Jan, so if it's before then just mention we've all been chatting about it!

Re: Hi Volume Fuel Pump - 2.0TFSI

I think after the ammount of time we've spent getting this sorted getting it working is the best news ever.

For anyone else thinking of doing this job it seems that it is very important to ensure that CYL 1 is at TDC before swapping the pump. THis isn't contained in the instructions supplied with the pumps.

Pretty sure Harry will produce a DIY when he gets time.
