Talking Remapping a Fabia vRS....

..... Well, ive done it!!

Thanks to those fantastic people @ JBS in chesterfield

so before anyone jumps on me... YES it is Revo, YES i am very happy with it and YES i will happily reccomend Revo and JBS.

Right... what to say, well i spent 20-odd minutes on the phone to James on friday, regarding tuning the Fabia vRS and he was very friendly and knowledgeable.
I agreed to pop down on saturday to have a look/drive of thier mental 220bhp Fabia on 18" wheels and nitrous, also because i knew a few other briskodians would be there having work done (see HERE)

Anyway.. had a nice drive down thru glossop. and encountered a few caravans
Got there just after 1 and spent about 5 hours there just chatting to everyone. unfortunately didnt get a go in the nitrous beast as james had to dash off to his helicopter pilot test (hope ya passed ) but stuck about generally soaking up the sun (ouch) and friendly atmosphere. when it got to 5pm and Huck and Darrens cars were finished (milltek looks ace on a vRS estate) i thought id got off lucky, but in a moment of weakness, Josh pushed me over the edge and out came the credit card by 5.15 i was all set up and had Revo loaded into my car... went for a spin round the block and pulled up and switched off to let the program kick in.. and when i set off again, boy did it kick in!!!! the car struggled with traction in second gear... even with toyos on a bone dry hi-grip surface.. and it took off!! i pulled back into JBS's yard.. and i think they knew by the that i was happy

I also got a green panel filter fitted too, which gives a little bit more of a growl under accelleration.

So. im very satisfied with the software, i dont know just how much power its got, but franky... i dont care.

so to JBS, no doubt ill be back

Hmm, was thinking that JBS might be the nearest option for me in terms of remaps, glad to hear someone who is happy with their service. Not sure if I should wait and get the suspension done before a remap though...

Do you mind saying how much the remap cost colin? Also, do JBS have a rolling road?

JBS have a rolling road, and rich1068's car got some tasty figures on it yesterday.

the whole JBS and Briskoda thing is old news imho and definitely water under the bridge. genuine, friendly, knowledgeable and professional - great place.

if i was getting another skoda , i'd definitely go there.

didnt get a chance to get before/after runs on the dyno as it was a impulse purchase.. but no doubt ill be back there soon

How far have you been today? Still enjoying it? How about a review? Specifically Revo on the Fabia.

See you next Saturday

As well as the perfomance improvement, the remap makes a huge difference to the smoothness and willingness to rev past 4k

Definately!! a graph doesnt do it justice
just need to re-learn how to drive it.. and stop booting it in 2nd, otherwise new tyres will be needed by the end of month

Hi guys,
Can you tell me how much the green panel filter is and where the best place is to get one. My Fab VRS is coming up to it's 10k service and I wanted to take the chance to replace the filter with something a bit better.
BTW - If any of you have also done the intake modification I suggested, be aware that you need to check the filter more often as with more air in, you also get more dirt/flies etc in....

Hmm, quite expensive then? 590 ish? Is it a generic map then or is there any tweaking for your car involved?

Its a standard remap.... not custom
advantages are that i can switch it off via the SPS switch if needed for servicing etc...

IMHO I don't focus to much on the initial price, your getting more than just a remap...REVO have extras that can be bolted on, be that the SPS switches or the security features along with a national network of dealers. Add lets say fr me at least 60 quid of fuel to the bill for a journey somewhere versus "a local dealer" and it's not that bad a price really...of course that does not apply to the PD's..darn you.

REVO as with one other offer a package that is beyond just a program, for not alot more, which IMHO is worth the little extra initially.

But cost is always subjective and perhaps too often a driving factor in choice. The package I choose cost me more than a remap alone, but then I can leave the keys in the car and it won't start, a default very conservative pgm and a more extreme + the ability to twist it up some more...all extras yes, all add to the bottom line, but it's fun to play with.
