| Hi all, Was at the harewood house show yesterday and one of the revo agents fitted the 5 hour free trial to my octy vrs, he had problems doing it but after a bit of a struggle managed to get it to work. Now as a result i have the engine management light on, the car is spluttering (extremely badly) it wants to die when you come to leave it on tick over, and it is back firing (rather loudly) I am extremely worried as the engine management light is on, i am only 2 hours into the 5 hour free trial and dont know what to do, have emailed the shop that did it, hopefully they will get back to me this morning, have emailed revo direct to let them know of the problems i have occured, and am thinking of going to the skoda garage when it opens to get then to see what the engine management is warning me of. Has anyone else had any problems with this trial, or does anyone have any advice? Thankyou a rather worried Nicola & Chris

| Not to make it even worse, but I heard that when the 5 hour trials ends you go back to REVOS standard map for the car not actually Skodas... I would kick up a big fuss with REVO tbh mate, if it happened after the remap then something is def up. Skoda dealers can flash the ecu back to standard so might be worth asking the cost on a friendly local too. Don't worry too much, it'll get sorted ![]() |

![]() I would have a look on the Revo website and find your nearest dealer and pay them a visit ![]() I would have thought the dealer would charge to reflash the ecu so talk with Revo first

| yes i had heard about it not going back to totally standard, of course i didnt hear that until last night when i was searching the site in despair to see if anyone had the same problems, i am going to go to my local dealer this morning and ask him to see what the fault is which is making the engine managemtn light come on, and ask costs of reflashing back to normal, only just got the car back from dealer on saturday and it was running absolutely perfect, i was very impressed with it and now all this ![]()

The dealer i dealt with yesterday comes from malton, but there is a revo dealer ten minutes away from myself in halifax, do you think they would reflash it back for me or will i have to go to the one i dealt with?

| Just rang the revo dealer in malton (who did the trial) he said that he can certainly flash the car back to the original settings for me, without leaving any flags in my ecu etc, he is however a long drive from myself, i told him that i didnt want to drive all that way with the engine management light on and he is now "seeing what he can sort out" he has said he will call me back before dinner. He brought up an interesting point though whilst talking to him, he said that as the problems didnt arise immediately when he flashed the trial in the only thing he can think of is that our car had a problem which has now been magnified by the trial and brought to our attention, could this be true or could he just be trying to make the software seem alright? if it is a problem with my car then obviously i will investigate it but the car was running like a dream on saturday when i picked it up from the garage after having it in for repairs??? i'm confused now what on earth is going on with my car ![]()

| Sounds like they are making excuses. The most likely cause is a bad map, especially as you just got the car back. I have never been a fan of the revo demo. Hopefully they can reflash the ecu correctly.

| Sorry to hear about the problems you have experienced...I think I was lucky his laptop died before he did mine. Do you know if the other guy who got the free trial has had any problems. |

| Did the Skoda dealer charge for fixing it? I think you're well within your rights to pass this on to the Revo dealer. |

| It sounds as though you've had a boost pipe come loose and pop off, this would cause all of the problems you've described and wouldn't necessarily have happened straight away. As for it being bad mapping, if that were the case then it wouldn't have worked from the outset not lasted 40mins then gone wrong. The problems he had weren't with flashing your car, it was with IDing the ECU. In regards to it reverting to stock, it reverts to stock running but with the Revo code still in the ECU. Any of our dealers can flash this to full stock if needed... the only need for this would be if another tuner (using certain tooling!) was going to put other software on the car. Michael, I wouldn't be put off by this and think you're lucky. It's going to be a boost pipe or similar issue. Nicola, Chris, I'm sure you've been chatting to Ben this morning... I'd pop your bonnet up and have a look at your boost pipes if you've got a minute. Check the piping from the intake manifold down to the intercooler (visible), the top turbo IC pipe (visible), the turbo intake pipe (you'll probably have to feel for this and don't do it hot!) and the bottom IC pipe you'd have to get under the car and feel. I'm sure the guys will get out to you and sort it though! |

| he is going to check all wiring and pipes when he gets home to make sure everything is secure, i hope it is just a pipe or something because the power gains are absolutely brilliant, once chris gets home he will find out if it is a pipe or whatever and he will sort it then we can have a proper play and see what it has improved exactly p.s have just been speaking to another guy from revo (posted above) and he has been very nice also and given me more of an insight into what could have happened, i am now rest assured that it will be a small problem easily fixed and then we will be able to report on revo's performance, all the revo staff i have spoke to have been very helpfull and we will keep you updated

Can I please ask a simple question, why, when this is only a "TRIAL" does it leave the REVO code/software in the ECU, because apart from making it harder for other tuners to put their software onto the ECU, I see no other reason for it to remain? If that is the case then its a bit unfair, and just causes problems? | |

| Simple question = simple answer... if you write something to the ECU it can't just disappear! More indepth answer... when the trail runs out it switches to all of the stock tables, however even those these tables are stock and the car is running stock the location of the tables are different to a car with a factory map. Thus why some tuners have issues as they read and modify whatever's in there... which can cause issues in itself as with second hand cars you don't necessarily know what's on there. We supply our software built from the latest factory updates so that regardless of what's on there to start with we're putting on what we know works and is up to date, this is based on ECU ID and software version. Not all tuners that say the Revo trial causes issues for them are telling the truth either. |

| from what i gather also revo have their little bit on there so people don't just rip them off and keep getting 5 hour remaps without purchasing the full product, which is fair i think, i dont know why their flag would cause another tuner any problems though if it does then surely that means it isnt just a flag? maybe other tuners just say this to put you off trying before you buy?

| Kev, Is the free trial only valid on the models which have the orange star with free trial next to them? (eg Seat Ibiza 1.8T 180bhp) As only a limited number of models have this next to them. I'm having an Audi A4 Special Edition 220PS in November, and would be interested to see what your remap could achieve. Do you offer a free trial for this? My local dealer is Votex in Congleton.

| Our website is in need of a revamp... it's not all up to date! No problems on the trial for the A4 220ps though, drop in and see Mike or Keith at Votex once you've got her... lovely car! |

| Cheers for that gav Right so here is the situation as of now, chris and gav have spent all night on the car trying to sort it out, after 6 hours the remap was still on, so got a bit worried and disconnected the battery for half hour so it could reset itself, it did so gav wiped all the fault codes off for us the engine management light then went and the remap dissapeared also................................. however the car is now running worse than ever , the splutter is horrendous and it is generally sounding downright awfullomg what am i gonna look like when i go to skoda at 9 tomorrow? i have only just picked up saturday (£150 later) and it was running like a dream when i got it back, now 2 days later i am taking it back broke again ![]()
