Map aside, i would be looking to offload this vehicle sharpish..If by putting the original code back on after this awful REVO 5 hour trial rubbish (i dont' agree with it) is not sorting the issue/issues, then i would be personally saying bye bye...

Oh, sorry to here of the troubles obviously, and that i can't input more than has already been said....Good luck..

Re: Revo 5 Hour remap problems anyone else had any, help :(

Thanks for all your comments they are all appreciated,
yes of course just getting rid of the car would solve our problems but we do love the car, we have had it for 18 months now and although we have had our troubles with it it is still a great car and we wouldnt be without it,
i wouldnt wish for anyone else to go through the troubles we have been going through its been an awful couple of weeks but hopefully awesome will be able to help us,
whether you agree with the revo or not i have to say that it did show us how much potential the car has, and without the trial we would never have known, a remap will be in the future for our octy, unfortunately though it will now be further in the future than we had hoped,
i shall tell chris what you have said about the earth wire and get him to trace it this weekend, maybe this will help awesome in their search on tuesday.

i do believe that we will eventually find out whats wrong, it maybe that we just have to keep trying to replace different parts to find the cause, but hey what the heck we will have one very nicely running octy at the end of it lol

Yes well it is a bit of a strange one, at least you have seen the thread though so you have a bit oif background on whats been going on now
The main points which we want dealing with first is the engine management light (showing that fuel bank one is running too lean) as this is the one which i see whenever driving the car lol,
the second one which is a bit of a must is the pipe on top of the engine which is collapsing, you can hear it kind of struggling to work (or chris did last night at least i have kind of give up atm)

the suealing and the wire getting hot are problems yes but the above two points are the ones that should be traceable?? why skoda cant i have no idea it would seem that they cant really be bothered as they havent even tried suggesting what could be wrong?

and thankyou sarah i knew you would look after us lol, its my kids first day at school full days so i am glad i am gonna have some company, i might be a little bit of a wreck though

If you hadn't said the mechanic said the squealing noise was coming from the turbo I'd have been tempted to suggest plastic impeller blades of water pump breaking up and jamming somewhere - but you did, so that shot that one down.

haha yes but this is coming from the mechanic who has now give me the car back to take somewhere else cos he doesnt know whats wrong dont think i trust his judgement anymore would you??

also this is coming from a mechanic who put the wrong fuse in my fuse box and his reason for doing this??...........

"because the book told him too"

Well as much as we love the car it has eaten all our funds now and we just can't afford to keep trying to mend it i'm afraid

Stick with it and draft a nice letter to Revo once the cause is known, if indeed the map caused the issue.
I'd also draft a nice letter to the so called mechanic who can't find the fault but keeps taking money from you.

MAF would be a good place to start, IMHO

Re: Revo 5 Hour remap problems anyone else had any, help :(

That's the problem nobody knows, but we know that :
the cambelt needs changing = £350
the alternator "probably" needs changing = £150
and the engine management light is on saying fuel bank one is running too lean cost of fixing who knows cos we don't know whats causing it, personally we think its a setting which is now incorrect due to the revo trial but whether we are right or not we don't know

unfortunately we just don't have £500 to put back into the car, it has had an enormous amount of money spent on it in the past 17 months though and we will be gutted to see it go

Re: Revo 5 Hour remap problems anyone else had any, help :(

maf sensor = £100, something we just don't have i'm afraid, and the maf sensor has only just been replaced, however you could be right as the dealer has told me that he has put maf sensors in the car before which have come off the shelf broke, so maybe thats the cause, we just dont have the money to go investigating, i have lost two weeks self employed wages (two different jobs so four weeks really) trying to sort it out and i just can't keep doing it

Re: Revo 5 Hour remap problems anyone else had any, help :(

Sadly the CamBelt was probably always going to crop up.

I doubt the running too lean fault is any more serious than a split hose or indeed a duff MAF. 18619/P2187/008583 - Ross-Tech Wiki

If the MAF was fitted by Skoda then it will have a 1 year warranty. If they suspect it then get them to put another on.

What's the problem with the Alternator?

Re: Revo 5 Hour remap problems anyone else had any, help :(

do you know i honestly don't know whats wrong with the car, we have been passed from pillar to post with it, skoda blame the stereo, the stereo shop blame skoda, skoda blame revo, revo blame something mechanical, i haven't got a clue where to turn now and we just haven't got the funds to carry on doing it. I had it booked in at awesome tomorrow morning but had to cancel as i was relying on money coming in today which hasn't, we don't actually know what is wrong with the car as nobody will give us a straight answer, maybe its none of the above and is something else entirely?? who knows, its a very difficult decision but i have also now lost faith in the car as i have done so many times before with different cars, i just don't feel right when driving it, it used to be fun but now i am scared to hear another noise, i know this is down to how it is at the moment and i probably would regain confidence in it eventually but i just aren't in the mindset to keep struggling on and financially we can't.
I wish the outcome on this could have been different and i am sure this car will be a joy for somebody else one day i just don't know what to do.

On a different note we will be putting the car back to standard so have quite a few bits for sale if anyone is interested

Whilst I can sympathise with your feelings based on your dealers experiance, I don't think they are all like that.

Given your financial position with the car, if there is even the slightest chance that the MAF is suspect then either you'll be buying one yourself or you could relent and get them to swap it out. As I said it should be FOC.
