Default Revo Revelation

I've had Revo for a good while now, 3bar for a month and 4bar for a couple or so. Some of you may have noted some reservations, comments like 'aggresive' 'a bit surgey' etc., mainly made after the 4bar program was installed.

Well, its time to correct all that! During a conversation with Rich1068 he asked whether i'd 'realigned my throttle body' since having Revo (I think Eddy asked this too in fairness). The answer was no but not for long. There is some debate on the web as to whether the whole 'drivers door open, ignition to on but engine not started' does actually realign the throttle body or whether it does something with the fuel pump. Whatever, it certainly drastically changed the way the car drives, much more progressive on the throttle, no surging so far and generally a much easier drive all round. It is stated on the web that it is recommended practice if, amoungst other things, the battery has been disconnected.

The problems I encounted when changing to the 4bar program (down to the Becker radio I have fitted) necessitated disconnecting the battery. This would seem to have screwed up the calibration of the throttle pedal, making it hyper sensitive in the first bit of travel. I presumed this was all part of the 4bar package, not a result of the disconnectng of the battery. The realignment trick has sorted all of this out, so much so that I've been caught out a couple of times exiting junctions with no where near enough throttle. Its well worth a whirl if you think things aren't as smooth as they should be.

There was a thread quite a while ago about throttle body adaptation. See below:

That's the one, I guess it'll make anywhere from no difference to a vast difference depending on whether it is set up correctly in the first place.

Out of interest, what does happen when you disconnect the battery should you need to? What I mean is, is it generally a bad idea? Immobiliser going haywire etc etc.

The only reason I ask is because I've never had to on a 'modern' car.

DaveH - You're right I did ask if you'd done a TBA, I've asked a few times and have copies of the emails to prove it. Your response was: "With the ignition and doors, your making stuff up now, they don't call me Rich you know!"

Rich1068 - I've disconnected my battery a few times and the only 'problems' I've had is the clock resets, the MFA resets and the trip resets.

I've done this a couple of times since having my car, for no other reason than I can. I may or may not have noticed a slight improvement.

However, on Saturday morning before Mrs.rich1068 and I were due to drive up to Edinburgh (the A1, don't you just love it ) I thought I'd give it another go. This time though I disconnected the battery, did the usual long journey stuff ie tyres, oil, screenwash etc then reconnected the battery and then did the throttle thing. Certainly a marked improvement.
