REVO sample and the full REVO!!

Got the full revo put on my octy rs yesterday they only thing is when i had the sample on it, it pulled like mad up 4000rpm and then died a bit up to 6000rpm. Now wit the full revo it dosen't pull the same at all, put revs all the way to 6000rpm wit no drop off in power. Did anyone notice this that had the sample and then got the full revo!

Give them a call...it might be somthing else...However what you have is better no?

The peak power on the 20vt should be up in the 5-6k mark.

Perhaps a revision mismatch...

The trial code and full blown version differ, in the respect the trial is a dumbed down version of the full code.

for reference my 1.8 T beeza with ko3 turbo & stock ic tails off at about 4800 revs

I don't know if it's me being thick but I think Smithy vRS is saying this is a good thing ie the trial runs out of puff, the full code doesn't.

Correct me if I'm wrong Smithy.

Thats how it reads to me. And to think the trial is designed to make you spend money on it, I'd have been thinking twice after that to be honest.

Reads positive to me too, but introduced an air of ??? in my head so I'd give them a call if it were different. The fact it is better is only if the owner thinks it is better.

Colin,

Have you ever used the phrase 'Patience Grasshopper' in everyday conversation?

erm,

Maybe...

I have done things but I don't know if they are better or not...but I think they are so perhaps they are...also makes it far easier to open the CC bill.

Whoever wrote the trial to your ECU should have told you that the trial code is not as good as the full code.

Whenever I've heard James talking to people about the trials, he's always mentioned that the full code is much better than the trial.

The trial isn't bad mind you!

I'd say the trial is quite good, looking forward to a proper download .
Now 3 or 4 bar

Demo REVO; pulled like mad upto 4K. Like you were pinned in the seat up to 4K and then you could feel it didn't pull as much up to 6K and didn't just run out of puff.

Full REVO; Pulls the same all the way to 6K.
I think they run more boost on the demo and that it die's off around 4K or something like that.

The trial code is limited as we can't adjust quite as much as the full code due to it's nature of reverting back to the stock map.

Original intentions for the trial code was for it to help 'expand' the market by giving people that wouldn't consider performance upgrades the option to try something new out... although it transpired that one and all wanted to try it regardless of whether they were already in the market for a software upgrade/chip anyway!

The stock map - or to the factory level of performance? The former could be read as meaning that the ECU reverts to the original code - which I believe is not the case.

Fair point, 'factory level of performance' using the stock maps... look up tables/addresses could confuse anyone with capability of doing a hex dump. No alteration to actual stock tuning. I'll choose my wording better next time!
