Baby Overdue!

As the title suggests really!! SWMBO was due to give birth to our first on Wednesday and ................ nothing!

The suspense is killing me!!

Any suggestions to help things along?? We have tried most things but wondered if anyone else had a unique way of getting things started at all?

All I can say is, it will come when its ready

I have had 3 and they were all late, first one was 2 weeks late

If you've tried the usual "activities" to help it along I've no idea what to suggest.

But a hot curry and a 'jump' sounds like a great Saturday night anyway so its worth doing again even if you've already tried it

SWMBO won't eat hot curries at all! Korma is her limit! Although we had a curry the other night and there is a very tasty lamb tikka patia in the freezer, that had quite a "Kick" to it! Thanks for the suggestions though, maybe I will at least try some "activities" again. I think somethings take more than once to have an effect, at least that's what i'll tell her!!

take her for a walk up a steep hill or a bit of hanky panky got my wife in labour every time

Our little one was 2 weeks overdue,wife has just suggested the following...
curry,pineapple,rasberry leaf tea
and sex!

I'm off for the last one.

Shame I had the REVO removed, otherwise I could have really shaken things up!!!

I already have the "wee matts" in the car just in case (her suggestion, i'm not that insensitive)

With my wife she had plenty of hot baths and i took her for drive along bumpy roads.

I picked up the pushchair from my mothers and when I got home the missus was in labour,

The "activities" need the end result to be administered orally to work the best (I don't need too spell this out do I). This is what I read anyway.

Apparantly the lining of the gut absorbs it much better than elsewhere, which in turn releases the hormone needed to start labour

Well! Still nothing! Didn't get to try anything at all last night, not even a walk! So maybe today will see something happening.

Thanks for all the suggestions though, i'm pleased that there is some scientific evidence to back up Fatty5000's advice too!!! MAybe that'll convince her! (I doubt it!)

Thanks Skodagirl, still no baby yet, but most people I speak to have said it will come when you least expect it! Fingers crossed it will happen soon, we are going to see the midwife today, hopefully she can shed some light on the situation.

Ours was 11 days overdue, and SWMBO needed to be induced. What the midwife didn't tell us is that induction can cause labour to come on very fast - something to discuss with the folks at hospital if it comes to it...

I do think that babies will come out in their own good time when they've decided that they've used up the goodness of the placenta and can get more food "outside" (Mmmm donuts).

Theoretically, that is why babies are induced (could be talking through hat as usual), but hear so many stories of being induced to suit available hospitable beds that I wouldn't even hazard a guess at that one. I told mine that if he didn't get a move on, he'd be dragged out by the ears, which seemed to do the trick.

No help whatsoever.

Well, it is, cos if you're reading this, it means you're well prepared on all fronts

Quite often a first child can be late (both my best friends were) and some studies have figured that up to 10% of births can go beyond 42 weeks. I hope your wife is calm and untroubled still and you can look forward to the little tyke appearing soon.

Or you could try “if you build a crèche, it will come” I think that was in a movie somewhere.

Thanks for all the suggestions, support and knowledge! Well, we saw the midwife earlier and things still haven't really progressed, SWMBO is booked in for a sweep and stretch on Thursday so maybe that will help things along a bit.
