Bricking it a bit!

Got an exam at noon today. First of my advanced stage accountancy exams, and I'm feeling somewhat under-prepared. Incredibly difficult to study for as I have so much stuff to go through, and with it being an open book exam I've been trying to concentrate on thinning down the 5 full A4 lever arch files and labelling stuff up to find in the exam where needed.... Got it down to 2 A4 files, a revision file with sample papers & answers in, plus open book texts....

Not looking forward to this, but on the upside, sun is out!

Sun is beating down here too -just a perfect day to be sitting an exam

Just think though - when you pass you'll be perfectly placed to be Chancellor of the Exchequer And boy do we need one

All the best - sure it will go tremendously well

Re: Bricking it a bit!

Exams are work of the devil. Keep your sugar levels aswell as fluid levels up for maximum concentration. If you're unable to take something in, then walk away from it and come back to it later. You've been there before and know all this, and remember that a little bit of stress can spur you on to do a good job.

Good luck in your memory recalling exercise

Re: Bricking it a bit!

Hope it went well J.

I know how you're feeling, had a small exam myself this morning and have another to look forward to on Thursday. I can't decide if it is better to have them on the Monday so that you have the weekend to revise or if it just ruins your weekend and you should do them at the end of the week and take your chances.

All the brightest ones get really worked up over exams, so this is entirely normal.

You'll be fine mate.

Re: Bricking it a bit!

Well - went pretty shocking to be honest. It was what I would call an "evil" exam. However, I can take a little heart from the fact absolutely everyone I spoke to after the exam was the same. However, because this is a new syllabus and new exam style, if everyone has done as shocking as me, then I can take heart as there's usually a certain pass rate the markers let through who might be marginal fails at any other time. Fingers crossed.

Another one in the morning @ 9.30am. I'm sure the 3.5 hours will fly by as fast then as it did today.... Time to knuckle down a bit now.

Re: Bricking it a bit!

You may well find that you've done better than you expected J. I certainly find that the ones I think I did well on aren't so good and the marginal ones tend to be ok.

Sure hope so - Worked for all my past 6 exams, but these pair are a different kettle of fish. Tomorrow's is more subject focussed, based on correcting past/current happenings, rather than tax saving / future plans like today's was. [fingers, and toes, crossed]

Re: Bricking it a bit!

Well, up ready for the next one now [yawn!] Didn't sleep well but I'll be fine once I'm in there. Did some handy notes last night in a practise question bank which should help me out - ironically some of it would have helped me a bit yesterday, but c'est la vie.

Re: Bricking it a bit!

This morning's was better. Managed to allocate my 3.5 hours between the questions much better this time around, and pretty much got what was needed down. Even if the calculations were wrong, there's still method marks which I feel was ok.

fingers crossed now until end of August when I get my results. Have a feeling I'm retaking yesterday's exam in November....
