| Does anyone know of a forum or bulletin board for people to leave comments on builders? I made the mistake of buying a new-build house from a bunch of clowns - it took a month to get a plug for the kitchen sink and almost four months to get through the inital snag list. Now the stairs look bad (most of the connections between one of the steps and the vertical riser for the next stair are not connected) and I was meant to get a visit today but no one turned up. I just called their customer service department to be told it was not in his diary and that he's not available until 31st January. I won't name the builders publicly in case it causes Colin D any legal problems.

Saying that the NHBC are not regarded well by a number of people in the building industry and I've seen some reports of them being very ineffective. There were some things on the original snag list - like a small chunk out of a door frame that the company construction manager said were allowable under NHBC rules. I suppose I could always try calling them tomorrow see if they get the builder's into gear.

| Re: The builders are driving me mad Hi Neil NHBC are worse than useless, we had 3 years of the same type of messing about.....and in the end we went to a solicitor took 3 weeks for him to come back witha deal for damages that we agreed to .....don't mess about with them, tell them they have a reasonable time to sort out all the faults to your satisfaction ( I would think a month would be more than enough) give them a set date for them to finish .....keep copies of all paper work ....if it doesn't work set the solicitor loose in many cases it is the only language the builders will listen to. word of warning don't go too public unless all else fails .....it could seriously damage the resale value of your home. | Briskodian | Re: The builders are driving me mad The other alternative is contact your mortgage lender, after all they have a concern in the house etc see what they advise? Good luck, I do understand what you are going though as I work for a medium sized construction company ![]() |

| Re: The builders are driving me mad Precisely why I bought a house >40yrs old, not <10yrs old ![]() They regulated by anyone, this company? Might also be worth writing to them disclosing your problems.
