| Re: Career in Firefighting anyone?? That rates high in the stupidity stakes  Fires on boats are terrifying. Worst of all is a fibreglass one. They burn magnificently  For that reason lifeboats carry a variety of firefighting equipment. The one I was crew on had a portable diesel pump. The main firepump was a bit bigger. You had to declutch the port engine from the prop gearbox and engage the firepump. The firepump was then driven by a 485 bhp, 14 litre Caterpillar V8 Produced a lot of water
