Cottaging?

Not that kind, you filthy minded lot!

Me and SWMBO have been together nearly 10 years, I'm planning a long weekend away. I fancy a remote cottage in the middle of nowhere with no phone signal or other modern day annoyances.

Can anyone recommend any? I'm in the NW but don't mind a few hours drive, but nothing daft.

Suggestions greatly recieved

Cheers

Re: Cottaging?

How about this:

http://www.aboutscotland.com/south/roughley.html

There is no electricity, telephone or television.

Liddesdale is part of the 11 percent left in the UK where there is no light pollution in the night sky

This one http://www.aboutscotland.com/south/cleuchhead.html does have electricity and looks very nice indeed.

Re: Cottaging?

Its a long drive and a ferry, but Lundy Island off the North Devon coast is pretty darn remote.

Now both of those look very appealing I must say. Might have to bookmark those for future reference.

Re: Cottaging?

I must agree on that second one....

There is a cottage for rent just across the road from one of our best beaches. It starred in one of those rescue type programmes when the little girl of the family who were renting it nearly drowned on that very beach.

Anyway, they are no other houses around for a couple of miles. you would have the beach to yourselves early morning and it's in a lovely location. I will try to find a link for you.....

Re: Cottaging?

Thanks Pixi, I wait with baited breath (whatever that means...maggot on my tongue???)

those in Scotland do look good, and should only take a couple of hours to get to, maybe less if the Octy vRS is available!

I'm swaying more to the first one though.

Re: Cottaging?

I once ventured on to the Isle of Skye, and there is a hotel with no tv, just a glorious view of the sea, no modern annoyances, and even board games in the lounge. Oh, and the best meat I have ever had in my mouth. The steak wasn't too shabby either.

Try this place, three miles off road and not a soul in site, swmbo and I spent a week there, no TV, no Radio, no Phone, excellent tracks through forests for bikes, private lodge for a bit of skinnydipping etc....last day we had rain and had to walk three miles to farmhouse to get farmer to tow us out...it's remote..

Re: Cottaging?

We had a great remote house on honeymoon in Italy. No one for miles around.

Skinnydipping wasnt the only outdoor activity

It doesn't mean anything - but the correct phrase is "bated breath" which means restrained, or held.
