debenhams direct help needed

i ordered a sofa bed from Debenhams on the 1st of September
it arrived on about the 22nd
we moved into new flat on the 24th and started to build it and found bits missing and the metal work heavily scratched. i called Debenhams and arranged a replacement

it arrived yesterday. i open it up and yes the bits are there but the metal work is yet again scratched and this time flaking off

call them up last night and they say they will take them both back and ship a third or give a refund. this bed was a gift from my cancer suffering nan so dont really want a refund. the third one i can almost 100% guarantee will be damaged too, it seems to be badly manufactured and also i now have to take another day off to get the two existing beds taken back then another day off to get a new one delivered then another day off if that ones faulty !!!! i have no more holiday left so it would have to be all unpaid leave and at about £80 a day id be loosing out on a sh*t load of cash !!!!

they did offer me 15.99 discount tho lol

so what do you think i should do ??

oh and i need a bed by the first weekend in November as we have people staying

Get them to deliver the bed when they collect the other 2 and insist it is checked before being loaded for delivery. Also push for delivery on a day or at a time you are not at work.

If you are really desparate and like the bed, take the 3rd one & ask for a discount for the hassle.

We had a similar problem with COURTS over one of the metal Bunks, with the sofa/futon on the bottom, we took the least damaged one & got a discount.

OR , you could always ask for the 3rd bed & make up 1, swaping damaged for good bits from the other 2

Sympathise with you, I had this problem with a WICKES KITCHEN took FIVE attempts to deliver/replace one damaged parcel and still ended up having to accept a damaged unit (damage on the fifth one was at the rear so not visible..)...I'm still waiting, two years later !!, for half a dozen missing draw handles to arrive.got fed up and got some better ones ..

I am rapidly becoming of the opinion that If I can't take it with me , then I ain't buying it.!!

How true that can be...

Waiting for a load of stuff ordered over t'internet to arrive at the moment - "Sorry we can't track your order as the system's down at the moment" - I can see that for myself, that's why I telephoned!!!

Mail order / home delivery worked fine for me for ages - where did it all go wrong???
