| Re: Do You Believe in God? It is true that having a belief in God is a comfort through the difficult times. Just now I am going though a difficult time with being unemployed and my health not being too great. One thing that has kept me going is my faith in God and that he will help me through the difficult time. I have often felt like giving up and wondered what God is doing and if he is still there but I don't think I could get through it myself. |

| Re: Do You Believe in God? As Simon Amstell said to Jermaine Jackson (former evangelical Christian and current Musilm - I think): "It's okay, they're both right!" Religion is for the weak willed, the rudderless, the gullible and the morally bereft. IMO of course. |

I'm very disappointed with the way the Cof E is behaving and secondly, most of the older (60's plus age) I know that go to Church I have found to be the most awful nasty people. Still,I admire Muslims,Roman Catholics and Sikhs to name but a few that seem to be far more family orientated and I believe that is related to their way of thinking (shame they are tainted by idiots who actually don't understand their own religion...). The Cof E I find embarrassing at the moment so I don't go to Church, havn't for years and just say my prayers privately at home.Believe it or not,I get a good nights sleep when I do! | |

| Re: Do You Believe in God? Not always the case as in Hinduism there are Goddesses. For God to exist there must be a devil too as for there to be good there is also a bad but isnt that part of life to go through the bad times as well as the good as othing is ever plain sailing. But thats off topic. I think Captain Kirks question in ST5 was good. What does God need with a starship? In my case I want to believe in something but what as it always seems to be bad people getting all the attention like rapist lottery winners etc. |

| Re: Do You Believe in God? I am very much a none believer, a complete load of hogwash and the number one cause of wars since time began, and has probably killed more people than aids, malaria and cancer combined! It amazes me how generally intelligent peoples common sense is so blinded by make believe. The meaning of life, there is no meaning we simply fill an evolutionary gap. Quite sad really. |

| Briskodian | Re: Do You Believe in God? Interesting thread, fanatics are also amongst aitheists BTW, just if you didn't know. Any belief system can become quickly corrupt and amended to the needs of few. One has to take responsibility for his/her actions regardless of belief. I am a believer, unusual one perhaps, I think both Big Bang Theory and Creation idea are equally whacky. You go ask scientists what was before Big Bang... Perhaps the biggest religion of today is science. They can make any claims and we bow down...... right? For those who like to read - the book "Darwin's Mistake...." by Hans J. Zilmer can be interesting. Cheers to all |

| Re: Do You Believe in God? I believe in all religions, including atheism. God isn't always male. In fact it's almost exactly 50:50. Jehova and Allah, perceived correctly are genderless, as are all monotheistic gods. (There is only one monotheism - see Robert Persig for details.) Of the others, the guy at the top is the monotheistic avatar, and the others are usually paired. BTW, IIUC, in the original, the Holy Spirit, AKA the Spirit that moved on the face of the waters, and the first incarnation of God mentioned in the Bible, is female. Unfortunately Greek does not have genders, so that fact was lost. |
