| Does anyone have one? CB radio in the car? I just got a Team ME-4 80 channel CB radio for the fabia (and for fun) and was wondering if any of you folks had one? Quite a few people out there using them! (my call sign is Felix). -Duggie.

| Re: Does anyone have one? I have a couple, but none fitted in the car. I wanted to bring them along to the brisky Prague road trip, but when testing them, as soon as you press TX on one of them, the other (receiver) just goes mad. When we bought them, we "hacked" them so they could use 200 channels and not just the standard 40 - standard was C-1 to C-40, and we added bands A, B, D, E on top. I have a horrible feeling that someone tried it on a completely different channel, say A1 without having a TOS tuning whotsitdoodaah done, and the badly tuned standard aerial has fried the unit ![]() Are there any good CB repairers out there where I could get a quote and then decide if they're worth fixing? The model is a Euro CB Pro 101. Found it on ebay italy: EURO CB PRO 101 = INTEK SY-101 PORTATILE 40 CH AM - FM su eBay.it CB, Articoli per Radioamatori, Audio, TV, Elettronica edit: better link: CB Portable Euro CB Pro 101 (très peu utilisé) en vente sur eBay.fr (fin le 27-Juil-08 15:21:22 Paris) The really neat thing was the battery pack was removable and then you slotted in a thin car adaptor kit which then powered it via 12v ciggy and then had a separate aerial lead so you could plug it into a roof aerial. It was then just the size of a normal CB mic ![]()

| Re: Does anyone have one? Mines just a cheapy little one with 80 channels in total but good fun with mates who also have them, neat little compact unit now hidden in the car... the massive ariel gives it away though. -Duggie

| Re: Does anyone have one? You don't need a licence and talking on 2-way radios is completely exempt from the law.

CB radio no longer need a license to operate the ham radio does .it was a city and guilds exam when got licensed but that has changed now and there is a three stage license that is a lot easier for most people (try learning morse code when you are dyslexic it took me 3 years ) as for operating from a car the rules have changed quite a lot in the last 20ish years at first you could yous a fist mic then it was baned and you had to use a hands free kit (pre mobile phone) the they changed the law about phones and the hands free radio kit became illegal ???? at the same time they realised that every police officer in a car could not use there radio to get in touch with there hq . as a result of that you are alowed to use a two way radio in a car as long as it has a push to talk (ptt) and release to listen switch and not a push to talk and push to listen switch apart from that its good fun driving a porqupine in a hi vis vest at 65mph on the motorway and watching the bmw drivers slow down ![]() ![]()

| Re: Does anyone have one? Just to through a spanner in the works the police cant use their hand held radios in the car neither. Any device that is capable (even not been used at the time) of making calls like a telephone cannot be used. As police radios are TETRA and have the facility to make one to one phone calls (like a mobile) they fall foul of the law. They should only use the in car set. Steve
