Angry Dog crap on front garden

I live in a semi in a culdesac, the type with no fence round the front. For the last year or so i have noticed that every now and again a pile of dog crap appears on the front lawn.

Its really starting to **** me off, because i have to go out with a shovel and remove it every time i go to cut the grass, and its clearly visible when visitors come round.

There are over 90 houses in the estate, but i have never seen a dog at any of the houses near mine.

The barsteward must come round while im out at work. I did see a springer/ king charles thing one morning when i was running late (about 10am), but i couldn't follow it to see where it went to.

I'm at my wits end. Any (useful) advice would be welcomed.

P.s. a good kick in the ar$e would be my first choice, but i can never find the runt!!

Collect up as much dog sh*t as you can, put it into a plastic bag and leave a trail of chocolate/meaty treats up to your door. Eventually, over a period of time the mutt will gain your trust and get close enough for you to grab the fleabag. Once captured tie the bag of dogs eggs around its collar and write "Return to sender, not known at this address" on the dogs forehead in magic marker..
then release the b*gger back into the community whilst whistling the theme to 'Born Free'.....

It's not the dogs fault but the irresponsible owners.

If your attempts to capture Mutley fail, collect the offending dog sh*t in one of those small sandwich bags and then, using a fishing catapult, fire the 'luckybags' in random directions over the neighbourhood..by law of averages one will land in the offending dog owners garden/fish pond/car sunroof/conservatory window..

Fair point, use a washable felt tip.....

...If you can't track down the dog try sprinkling pepper onto the grass where K9's favourite depositing ground is. Dogs usually have a good sniff before unloading and a nose full of pepper is a good deterant...shouldn't kill your grass either !

Without staying in for the whole day in wait for the mutts owner + mutt,or asking neighbours to look out for you, nothing you can do.

How about rigging up a cheap CCTV system...

Let your grass grow so long you won't be able to see it!

How large are the turd's? We have a similar problem I'd assumed it was smallish dog but it's actually a cat that for some reason prefers to crap on our front lawn than bury it's turd's like most cats.

There are lots of cats about, but this is too big to be a cat.

I want to try pepper or something strong. There must be some reason the dog keeps coming back to that spot, e.g. scent etc.

Heat / Infra-red activated sprinkler system? Might at least act as a deterrant if the offender is running stray - cold shot of water as it squats.

Sadly the only true way to catch the offender is to sit at an upstairs window all day, or rig up a cheap CCTV system, that maybe is triggered to record only when some infra-red barrier is broken by the mutt?

Sadly the ultimate deterrant is fence off the garden and driveway. Last resort.

With you saying you live in a cul-de-sac, could it be one of your close nieghbours being lazy and kicking the dog out at night? (not pooing obviously)

I agree it's not the dog's fault, it's got to poo. It's the owner that wants a kick in the back doors. If you find who owns it, go and poo in their garden. A human dump would take some explaining.

I'm 34 years old, but still laugh at poo.......

Try watering your lawn with a weak solution of Jeyes fluid. They generally have a good sniff around, and they won't like the pong.

As long as it's a weak solution, it won't do any harm. A lot of older gardeners used to use it in the garden, for cleaning up the soil! You won't need more than a capful per bucket of water.

I agree with the above posts - some sort of smelly lawn stuff should do the trick. I'm pretty sure garden centres of Focus or similar sell some stuff designed for the job.

I know citrus is good at keeping cats off, dunno about dogs though

what about some sort of low level electric fence, nothing deadly of course but should be pretty simple to set up.

I'm sure it would do the job

A little jolt should deter the offender

What if a small child touched it? Ok may never happen but would you want charge brought against you?

You could always do a stakeout, meet the dog, become friends, and train it to poo next door

Have just been searching the internet. That "get of my lawn" stuff seems like the only solution for now, until i find the offending pooch, follow it to its owners and have a nice friendly word in their ear. I could always just sit on my rockin chair on the front porch chewin some tabacco with my double barrel shotgun and hope that it might just mosey on up .

Maybe i might just leave late some morning and accidently back the car out of the drive the same time as the pooch happens to be walking by.

Anyway, im sick of cleaning up dog ****!!!! I may even take a day or two off and wait for it once and for all!
