Eat your heart out Rooney!

I played football last night, as i do every Tuesday night. Went in for a tackle with one of the biggest lads on the pitch, ankle went over with a crack, i went down like a sack of poo. Really thought i had broke my ankle at first.

Went into work today in a lot of pain and limping around all over the place, medical centre sent me to the hospital for an x-ray and luckily no fractures to be found

The bruising has just started to come out. Here are a couple of pics, will get some more when it looks worse.

Apparently it may be six weeks til i can kick a ball too, and i may need phisiotherapy

Thumbs up Re: Eat your heart out Rooney!

MMm Nice.....Least your feet are in a better state than Beckham's were four years back - remember the state of his toe nails when they were pictured on the front of the Sun?

Looks like you were lucky not to break it - you weren't wearing running trainers by any chance were you? Best not to when playing football, I made that mistake once - you can go over on your ankle too easily because the heel is stacked too high (bit like Sven's shoes!)

Good luck getting back to footie!

Re: Eat your heart out Rooney!

Been there - although I went over mine getting out of a car, totally lashed up going for a pee at the side of a road. Thankfully the beer helped me with the pain at the time, but next morning and the next few weeks were agony. I was told I would have recovered quicker if I had broken it. I also had the fun of wearing slippers to work for 3 weeks as I couldn't get any shoes on at all due to the massive swelling....

Ouch looks nasty.

We can be cripples together, both my arms are currently bandaged up at my elbows and I can hardly move them

Re: Eat your heart out Rooney!

Here is what it looks like today. The bruising near the base of my toes was not there this morning and all of the other bruising has got a lot worse.

I was wearing astroturf football trainers at the time. We were playing indoors but i believe that the type of footwear has not added to the severity of the injury in this case.

Apparently i can get physio done at work, on works time i just need a letter from my Doc to say that they can go ahead with it.

Have you noticed also that you get no sympathy off your work colleagues and friends????

All mine have one is take the P155 out of me most of the day. I have lost count of the number of times i have heard the line "you were limping on the other leg a minute ago"

Get well soon Walkie!

I would give anything for my work colleagues to make fun of me, but sadly I work by myself

Your ankle's massive

Re: Eat your heart out Rooney!

That smarts!!

I broke one of my fingers playing indoor soccer two years ago, and it was my boss that broke it for me! All he was worried about was whether or not I could write or use the computer at work.

2 years later, it still gets sore in cold weather. It was a lovely shade of purple, then yellow, and a few other colours in between.

Hope your feeling better soon.

Re: Eat your heart out Rooney!

You're lucky the radiologist wasn't taking the p155, like happened to my when my ankle made that dreaded snapping sound 18 months ago (finger is to the cheeky radiologist!).

With the swelling, pain and bruising, but no breaks, sounds like you've probably torn the ligaments.

You're lucky you can get physio at work as it costs a bomb

Good luck Sir Limspalot

Re: Eat your heart out Rooney!

It would seem that most of the bruising has now come out. Slightly worse than my last photo now.

However i can walk fairly well on it now but if i spend too much time on it, it tends to start aching.

I am off to see my Doc on tuesday and going to get him to write a letter for my physio

Re: Eat your heart out Rooney!

How's it healing?

My arms are getting better, still not 100% which is frustrating and I am still off training
