ebay advice please

Last week I sold something on ebay. Since then no response whatsoever from the buyer despite me sending an invoice and numerous e mails. I know there's the option of a sale to the previous bidder (second chance) and I can eventually get into the no pay system with ebay. I just don't feel like all the hassle. Is it a good idea to contact the previous bidder now or should I let the ebay no pay system take its course?
I'd be grateful for advice from anyone who's been in a similar situation.
Thanks.

Re: ebay advice please

If you don't file a non paying bidder claim then you won't be able to get your auction fee's back m8. What sort of feedback has the buyer got from previous sales?

carp as it is, sometimes it's best to let ebay take it's slow and meandering course.

cheers

Yeah, once 7 days has passed you can start non-paying bidder claim - Using the reason "no contact at all from buyer" I did this once and was paid within 24 hours, even after a week of no responses to emails.

Re: ebay advice please

Yep, as soon as buyers get "official" emails they pay up - usually.

I had 2 identical items listed as one eBay item but with a quantity of 2. The guy bid £90 each, but clearly meant £90 for both. He simply haddnt head the bidding procedure.

However he decided that rather than emailing me he'd just ignore things. Eventually eBay gave me £180 and I've sine sold them for £40 each.

It took about 2-3 months to go through the system but £180 for doing nothing will cover my ebay fees for a year or more.

Re: ebay advice please

hi, i have had a few of these in the past , what i would do is send another e mail and tell them clearly that this is the final reminder and if they do not respond within 24 hours it will be reported to ebay , then if no contact report it to ebay non payment of item , usually when they get this they will cough up if you offer it to 2nd bidder its not very often they are still interested , so i would do as i have advised and let them know you mean business , there are too many of these idiots on ebay , oh and 1 final tip ( dont leave feedback first ) good luck .

Yep, what he said.
Also, by requesting the other guys contact details and waiting a day or two, they might get the hint and reappear. Giving them a call might work too if you feel like it, but I can never be bothered.

Re: ebay advice please

Phil - How did Ebay pay the money for your sale? I'm just curious as I've never had anything better back off them than my listing fees and sales %%. Would like to know how you managed that?

Re: ebay advice please

Thanks for valuable advice. I will do as you all suggest, send another e mail then let the ebay 'no pay' system take its course. The 'buyer' had 4 very good feedback comments so there didn't seem to be any cause for concern. I will certainly enjoy leaving feedback for this guy eventually! Thanks again.

Re: ebay advice please

a score of 4 is something to still be wary of. A conman can easily complete 4 fraudulent "successful transactions" with positive feedback, using contacts he knows to win the auctions he sets up. The price he pays to sell/buy 4 items to get his 100% feedback is little compared to what he/she could net in one successful con of someone else. Then that ID set up gets banned, etc but nothing gets back to the person directly (fraudulent address, etc used)

Just a warning. I will send items out on receipt of a cheque alone but the buyer needs some serious 100% feedback over at least 100 transactions or more, else I wait for cheque clearance.

Thumbs up Re: ebay advice please

Just a quick update. I sent an e mail 'threatening' him with the official e bay process starting today. Within an hour he paid up! So Briskoda advice pays off again! Many thanks.

Re: ebay advice please

Result! I actually had to kick off the process and it was Ebays nasty email that got me paid nice & quick.
