eBay listing removed?

I was browsing eBay last night and decided to hunt for some new DVD's. I thought I'd go for Blackadder, in particular series 4 Blackadder Goes Forth, I really liked that when it was on TV.

So I hunted and found one that had all 4 series, used, for £14. Fair price I thought of what I was willing to pay, so I did a 'Buy It Now'. I paid straight away via paypal and have received today the following email:

Dear 'Moose',

Please be aware that the following listing:

Item Number - 6438237941
Item Title - Blackadder series 1-2-3-4 DVD

has been removed by eBay for breaching of one or more of our policies. Any offers or bids placed on this listing are now null and void. We advise you not to finalize this transaction with the seller. As stated in the eBay User Agreement, neither seller nor buyer should engage in transactions that breach the law or eBay policy.

Please review eBay's Prohibited and Restricted Items guidelines and User Agreement at the following locations:

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/item_allowed.html
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policie...agreement.html

We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Regards,

eBay Trust & Safety

The item has actually been removed now but why should it have been removed? Are the other people who ordered not recieved their items? Or is it likely that they are counterfeit and that wasn't described? I guess there is no chance of getting my money back either too Last month I 'bought' a Red Dwarf DVD's, series 1+2 for £22 (got a bit off as I bought 2 of their auctions) and I sent the cheque off, it got cashed and they have disappeared. I've lost that money too. I wonder why some people don't trust eBay anymore?

If you paid with paypal you should be able to get your money back for both of the items.

If not I think you're screwed

I've pretty much stopped buying off there now. And am extra cautious when I do, often preferring to ask a Q to the seller to check its a real person, etc.

I'm just passing off my old stuff on there now, and trying to show the human touch in my listings to encourage bidders (maybe it should be to encourage bidders that I'm a real person? I usually try and have a joke about something )

Someone I know very well had this happen to them. The goods arrived safely as advertised after a bit of nail-biting.

This has happened to SWSBO, wont tell her why, lucky for her she remembered the other persons user name and was able to track them down using my ebay account.

They have shut her account for a month and after a month they will review it, though wont tell her why they have shut it other than

I recieved this last week after winning a brand new sony vaio £1200 quid laptop for 250 quid at 6am

Dear mike freestone (*************),

The following is a notice from eBay Trust & Safety regarding:

Item Number - 5109382825
Item Title - BRAND NEW SONY VAIO VGN-S3HP

Our records show that you placed a bid on this item. We removed this item from the Site and cancelled your bid because it appears that the seller's account has been compromised and used by an unauthorized third party. The seller's privileges to trade on eBay may be temporarily suspended while we investigate this matter further. Due to privacy concerns we will not be able to share further details related to this seller.

If someone claiming to be the seller asks you to complete a transaction outside of eBay, we strongly recommend that you ignore the request. Transactions for items listed on eBay that are completed outside of the eBay marketplace are not covered by the Buyer Protection services offered by eBay and can be highly indicative of fraud.

If you have already paid, you may wish to pursue recuperating your funds. Some steps you might take include:

1. Ask the seller for a refund
2. If you paid by check, ask your bank to stop payment
3. If you paid by credit card, contact your credit card company’s security department
4. If you have made a payment by money order or wire transfer, you may contact that company for further information at 1-800-325-6000 (Western Union), or at 1-800-926-9400 (Money Gram)
5. If you paid with PayPal, review the Buyer Complaint Process at:

/csg/p?http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr...-buyer-outside

There are many tips on how to protect yourself with any Internet transaction in the eBay Security & Resolution Center located at:

www.ebay.com/securitycenter

Our goal is to ensure that your eBay experience is safe so that you can buy confidently. It is rare that something goes wrong with a transaction on eBay, but we're here to help you protect yourself in the event it does. If you have additional questions, please send us an email using the "Contact Us" link found on eBay Help pages. Do not respond to this email, as your reply will not be received.

Its not good. I bought some kitchen knives, decent ones, and I paid by cheque. One day later, the auction was closed, and all record of the item was gone. Luckily the vendor was an honest type, so he refunded me. As an aside, I have binned PayPal. Its too pricey to receive money, evey time I click a 'Withdraw Money' button, it takes another 2% or 20p! Flipping Ebay con merchants.

I've bought loads of stuff on ebay over the last couple of years with no probs at all except 1 item costing £15 which didn't arrive and I had no response from the seller. I always use Paypal and never buy from a seller with less than 98% +ve feedback. Works for me (touch wood)

Selling on Ebay is a hastle and Paypal fees are rediculous. I don't know why people even bother.
