| Briskodian | F**king windscreen people To start this thread, just had autoglass out to replace the screen after a stone chip repair caused the chip to crack. Really pleased with the job they did. Very good quality of work, which is nice to see these days. However.... The company (not AG) that did it for the dealer before had mounted the screen too high up and there were old scratches in the paint visible. This means they had scratched it and hidden it ![]() ![]() Luckily it's just through the lacquer and there is still paint there, but that just goes with another scratch to be painted up when the time comes. Very very annoyed at how little care people generally show for other peoples property.

| Re: F**king windscreen people I would have thought that it's a bit late to complain now, as the previous repair that caused the apparent damage (note the careful wording of that statement ) was apparently carried out for a previous owner / dealer |

| Re: F**king windscreen people I had to change the windscreen on my old polo (years ago) and had it done in France where it's Car Glass, the continental equivalent of Auto Glass. All appeared well and was well pleased with the work. Then came back to the UK and a few weeks later, did a massive car wash / jet wash session to find out I was getting wet inside the car because it was leaking ![]() Phoned up UK AG and they then changed the windscreen over and were shocked by the lack of properly bonded glue. They told me that it was waaaaaay substandard and as a result, sent the invoice to the chaps in France ![]() But just shows that you still get random botched jobs. Totally unnacceptable when you take it to "specialists" these days ![]()

| Briskodian | Re: F**king windscreen people It was carried out for my dealer as part of a warranty claim against a defective windscreen by me. I complained at the time about the state of the screen and amount of glue left all over the place among other things, but obviously there was no way I could see the damage hidden under the windscreen that had been placed higher than it should be to hide the damage.

| Re: F**king windscreen people Sorry, misread the original post - it looked as if it had been done for the dealer before you bought it from them. Complain like hell. |

| Re: F**king windscreen people A "repair" making it crack badly is now making me wonder if I *should* get my insurance to repair the tiny stonechip I've had in the windscreen for nearly 2 years that's never changed or caused any problems. |

| Briskodian | Re: F**king windscreen people The guy said to me "If the repair works it probably wouldn't have cracked anyway and if it was going to crack anyway then the repair will usually crack it". He suggested that basically it means that a repair might work and if it does it will stop water getting in and freezing so making it larger and potentially causing problems.
