Hi all,

A wee update and a chance to says thanks to all the folks on here as well, it is much appreciated. My Grandad had his operation yesterday (nightmare to get through to the hospital but my auntie managed even through she thinks she was speaking to a cleaner!!) and it is expected that he will be in for a couple of days, as today he will be getting a CT scan today, so hoping to go and visit him tomorrow allow time for my auntie and my dad to visit tonight. So hopefully he will be out by Thursday and back home.

I've already got my duties for next Sunday when I visit him is to cook the dinner which will allow him time to rest and recover.

My cooking is not too bad, I've got to admit over the weeks I've felt for my grandad, he has gone through so much with losing my gran which I think he still can't quite get over seven years later (pics over the whole house) but I just love the crazy things he does like go up on roofs, chasing cats out the garden with his new toy, teaching me (25 year old) to cut the grass and look after the garden, still moans about my driving but deep down he is a cracking grandad!

My Grandad was similar. Don't think he got over the death of my Gran. He missed her dearly. He had pictures of her up everywhere round the house too. He was a top man too. A real Gent. I miss him dearly and regrte that I never seen him more. I wish I could of visited more but he lived 400 miles away. But when I got older I did get myself on the train and go down and see him. My Grandad was a Cracking Grandad too.
Just thought I'd add this too. Hope this ok.

My Grandad is fantastic, couldn't ask for a better one, and he's a Great Grandad now to my Daughter, and she just adores him.

Davy, i know what you mean about not getting over your Gran. Mine died almost 2 years ago, just before my daughter was born, and i think her being born was what kept him going, otherwise i expect he would've went downhill too.

My Dad's Dad was great, but sadly no longer with us.

My Mum's Dad is the c*nt. He used to beat my Nan and such stuff

He's bound to look a little off peak after an op, i'm sure if he's had a good night, he'll look and feel a lot better.

2.30am - Phone call to the house it's my grandad asking to be picked up! My dad being nice with being woken at that time asks if nurse said it's ok for him to leave. He says no he is discharging himself!

My dad tells him to stay put!

6.15 am Grandad is on the phone again come and pick me up he says, so my dad calls the hospital to find out whats happening and tell him that the medication is making him confused and that it's best for him to stay in.

6.30 Grandad is back on the phone saying I want picked up!!!

So my dad has to call my auntie who has had the same treatment and then calls the hospital back to say that he and my auntie will be at the hospital at 9am to pick him up or see what he is like!

I think it might bes best for him to stay in the now so he is not so confused but knowing my grandad he will discharged and standing waiting on them outside. Oh and he's caught a infection while there as well!

Hopefully it's medication causing him to be like that, or on the other hand, he sounds like an independant ol'bugger, so maybe he just wants home.
