Exclamation Got chased in my car today with a knife

Travelling on my way home this afternoon (beautiful afternoon might I add ) on the outside lane of the A5 in Milton Keynes at a smidge under 80mph.

The inside lane was very slow moving as many cars were coming off a busy exit.

Behind me I spot a black Sierra travelling at some speed and before I know it there sat right up my ar5e. Now my biggest pet hate on the road is tailgating. So I look in my mirror and sat in this Sierra are two young lads, about 17 years old. The inside lane is still crowded with cars turning off at a busy junction so I cant pull in to let these tits past.

They decided to get closer and closer and my patients wears a little thin but I promise myself not to bite. I gave them a dirty look in the mirror and told him to back off. Didn’t use any sign language and I kept my cool.

One of the lads starts shouting out the window all sorts of crap and I am sitting in my car laughing, they were only small lads so I was hardly bothered and found it amusing. Then comes the knife he pulled out from the glove box about a 9” knife and continues to hang out the window shouting and screaming with the car getting closer and closer. Things change from the knife being drawn and I start to think I’d better loose these loonies.

The inside lane still busy with traffic and nothing ahead I put my foot down, which pi55es me off as it is, cause I never ever speed. Not surprisingly I pull away like a rocket leaving them behind but still in view. The inside lane traffic had died down and I take the next exit off the A5 which happens to be my exit. Look in my rear view mirror and the loons are still following.

They get closer as I am waiting at a roundabout but I manage to get away before they catch up, however they are now a lot closer. We come to another roundabout and I am held up there again this time at the front of the queue. There about 3 cars behind, but the Sierra decides to drive up on the grass verge to get to me the traffic clears at the roundabout and again I get away before they manage to catch up.

BUT they come off the grass verge and pull out in front of a car on the roundabout causing the other person to do an emergency stop and continue to follow me. After seeing there driving, which is the sort of thing you would see from a get away police chase type program, I knew they were absolute psycho’s

I continue down a single carriageway, there’s one car behind me and then the Sierra behind them. The Sierra pulls out onto the other side of the road to over take this Clio. The Sierra remains on the wrong side of the road trying to overtake the Clio and a car is coming the other way. The Sierra still trying to overtake doesn’t pull back in until the very last second, forcing the car coming the coming the other way to brake considerably to avoid a head on!

The Clio turns off and the Sierra is behind me again, but not right up my ar5e yet. We come to another roundabout and I manage to sneak in front of a car I am meant to give way to but not dangerously, forcing the Sierra to stop at the roundabout. I indicate right so they see that I am going right at this roundabout, which has four exits. The roundabout has tree’s in the middle so you cant see over it. I knew they were following but hadn’t got on the roundabout yet, so instead of going right I take the last exit which leads me back down the road I had just got off, but because of the tree’s in the middle they would lost site of me mid roundabout, so they continued to go right whilst I, only just out of there site, continued back down the road we had come from and so I managed to loose them. At that point I felt like James Bond losing them in my cunning ‘roundabout plan’. But it still didn’t make light of the situation.

I got home driving through some estates keeping off the main roads.

Whilst they were sat up my ar5e on the A5 I promised myself in my head that I wouldn’t rise to the bait and just let them tailgate dangerously until I could pull into the inside lane. But giving them a dirty look was just enough to set them off which started this very dangerous incident.

They could of caused a serious accident the way they were driving, I was stunned to see the things they did to try and catch up to me, actually stunned. It’s the sort of things you see on a police chase video and so so dangerous. Further more I could have had an accident myself and who knows what could of happened.

So be careful on the roads, I am sure most of you are pretty level headed people, as am I, but take my advice. If someone does something on the road that really winds you up, think twice before you give them even a dirty look, cause you never know who is going to be behind the wheel of that car and what they might be carrying

I gave it a while before I wrote this because I was fuming afterwards, but have calmed down enough now to type this without the use of swear words sorry if some bits dont make sence, it was typed quickly

Jesus mate, glad your OK.

This is why I get worried about Tracey being on the road sometimes, especially as she allways shouts at people who drive up her ****.

I know this in hind sight, but did you get the reg? Probably worth reporting to police.

Showing incident though!

Blimey mate - it's amazing some of the people we share the roads with! Glad you're ok and well worth reporting to the police (I suspect as couple of other people who encountered them on their journey's may have done the same!!!) if you got the reg number

Wow! Thats some story. Glad they didn't catch you. I had an incident about 3 years ago with something similar.

My advice to anyone reading this is to drive into the nearest police station. It should stop them from following you.

That's crazy! As the others have said, this is definitly worth reporting to the police. Glad it turned out okay for you in the end. I have no idea what I would have done in your situation, scary stuff!

Re: Got chased in my car today with a knife

Even if you dont have the reg I would report it to the police. You can identify the type of car and know the rough look of the people inside. Chances are they will pull them over at some point if they see them.

and sorry to hear about the trouble.

Yeah definitely report it. Even if you didn't get the reg, maybe some old grandad in a metro reported them for cutting him up or something, pretty likely if they were driving like that. Doesn't MK have those traffic cameras on the back of bridges everywhere? They might be caught on one somewhere. Bell ends.

Re: Got chased in my car today with a knife

Glad your ok mate, not that many Black sierras on the road these days so get em dobbed in to the police! i think its your duty to. Had you been around a CCTV covered roundabout and know the rough time then there may be a possibility of getting an ID

what if someone had not been as streetwise and either got caught up in traffic or stopped to challenge them, ok 9 times out of ten these wee scrotes wouldnt know what to do with a blade but you never know

Re: Got chased in my car today with a knife

I know this is hindsight, but if you have a hands-free kit in the car you can dial 999 whilst on the move and report this knife wielding incident. At any rate I would definitely ring plod straight away!!

Glad you're ok, I wouldn't concentrate on the dirty look though, sounds like they were just looking for an excuse and even if you hadn't done anything it could've turned out the same.

Re: Got chased in my car today with a knife

Glad you're OK!! Hats off to your cool-headed thinking, though!

Like the others have said, driving to a police station is probably the best solution and/or ringing 999. Easy to say these things in hindsight, though, at least you got out of it unscathed.

Re: Got chased in my car today with a knife

This kind of 5hit would freak me out if it ever happened to me.... Feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with it. And short of phoning 999 and trying to meet up with a patrol car / cop shop, I would just f*** all speed limits / red lights and other stuff and hope my car's performance and my "relative" driving skill would soon lose the nutcases!

have a beer mr W and have a bit of reflection time. You're in one piece and have yourself and car intact. Instead of possibly being ran off the road, attacked, and be currently in hospital with multiple stab wounds... or worse!

Re: Got chased in my car today with a knife

Definitely report it to the cops mate. They could be doing this to loads of people, or have been involved in some previous crimes. You don't carry a 9" knife in your car unless you're up to no good. Bloody scrotes!

Re: Got chased in my car today with a knife

Thanks for your kind words, really appreciate it

I reported it to the police; the car was a black D reg Sierra.

Unfortunately there was no CCTV at all on the routes I took but a lot of eye witnesses, and I would of imagine the guy that almost had a head on would of reported it.

I used to say the ex if you ever got in any trouble on the roads just drive to a police station. The way they were driving though was so erratic and dangerous, forcing me to drive in a in a similar manor that the police station was too far to risk.

I couldn’t dial 999 as I had to concentrate on my driving, if I had a handsfree however this might have been doable.

Just glad nothing serious happened

Re: Got chased in my car today with a knife

Sorry to hear about this Walkie. Hopefully because you have had this experience the once, it'll never happen again 'statistically speaking' if you see where I am coming from. Although, it shouldn't have happened to you at all.

If you were willing to take the risk of Customs knocking on your door, I would be happy to mail you a can of CS gas or pepper spray from here

Edit: Now that I think about it you can't send aerosols in the mail...

You can use a pump spray (old pump hairspray bottle), get some dried chilis & cayenne pepper dissolve it all in water and fill the pump spray bottle with that. After it has had chance to sit and mix for a while sieve the crap out of the mixture then decant it into the bottle...

Even better, a water pistol for better range, but NOT something that looks too much a gun for obvious reasons.

That’s a horrific story! The main thing is you are OK and there have been no repercussions. I very much doubt the morons chasing you had insurance or driving licences, so it’s just as well they didn’t tangle metal with you.
