Call the police. Surely there is CCTV in the area?

Leaving the scene of an accident is very naughty. Mr Plod will throw the book at them!

I had a Transit reverse into my rear bumper today (he had the rear doors open)
Just a small crease but I let him live

Do I make a fuss or live with it?

Claim of the vans owners. You shouldnt have to live with it, nor pay for it to be fixed!

What a bummer. Bet you're raging Rob.

Gutted for you.

Really pisses me off that low life scum get away with causing damage like this.

I suppose its possible whoever did it didn't realise they'd done it...

@ vRSLen: Shouldn't you get it checked out to be sure that it is only bumper damage?

*Hugs* to Octygone. Another Grrrr, not that that will do much good. Not fair.

On reflection I should have cut his heart out, then the car would have been the less

Still feeling pi55ed off though

What about the owner of the other damaged car - did you contact them, did they get any details ?

I have to say, though it would obviously cost - if I hit another car I'd own up.
Seems that is defo not the norm these days.

A bit cryptic that, about accepting your own car back - is the hire car a Veyron or such like?

Deep breaths required me thinks. I would not be happy at all.

Protected no claims is great but it just protects your discount. If you make a claim it doesn't stop your premium going up next time you renew your insurance ! Sorry if i'm adding insult to injury. But isnt that what insurance is for.

That's not true. Your base premium will not go up as a result of the claim. Only a standard annual increase.

Not according to 3 brokers i've spoken to. It's at the descretion of the insurer. It's called 'bonus protection' not 'premium protection'.

Re: Grrrrrrrr *&^%&^*^^*&&

The same happened to SWMBO's car except it was down the front and rear doors, , some big yellow thing, both the entrance and exits were covered by CCTV so i mentioned it to plod when they came to the house 36 hours later and the fact we knew the rough time it happened, colour of the vehicle and they said.

"We wouldnt go to those lengths for this type of incident sir"

They said even if they seen a yellow motor leaving the car park at the time of the incident that wouldnt be enough, and even if they tracked the car down and it had a bash/scrape on it they would still have to rely on a confession

I asked them to pass on the owners details if they did find it and i would sort it out myself, they declined

It was them that alerted me, all they know is it happened over about 35 minutes while they were away from the car

Check the rise in the excess when it comes to renewal time, thats the way they normally get you.

Re: Grrrrrrrr *&^%&^*^^*&&

Your premium will rise, as a result because even though you will have max ncb, you need to declare the claim come quotation time. Try putting 2 quotes through, one with the claim and one without and there will be a difference.

I agree, you maybe lucky. The police could have stopped the offending vehicle elsewhere in its travels. Chances are the driver was drunk and weaving all over the road.

Re: Grrrrrrrr *&^%&^*^^*&&

My insurance company have told me my premium will still go up as a result of the stupid b*tch that clouted me the other week, even if its proved to be all her fault (which I know they'll go 50/50 despite the evidence I've sent in of photos and road / car measurements etc)
Interestingly though they told me the rise would be a: marginal anyway , and b: actually less if it's 50/50 than if 0% blame to me as apparantly people are more careful drivers after a 50/50 accident than if it's all the other persons fault . Go figure.
