| Briskodian | Hang him or hug him? I found this one of the most distressing news itemsfor a long time.Keep thinking how could he do it? In fact it is the second story I have read about an aggrieved parent throwing kids out of hotel windows or trying to kill them by that method. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...n_page_id=1770 My wife says now she is unsure how she feels given mental history in the family. All I know is he must have some very bad days ahead |

| Re: Hang him or hug him? As the man wanted to commit suicide, killing him will only give him what he wanted. I think he should get physchiatric help, but also serve a lot of time for what he did.

| Re: Hang him or hug him? I think a permanent restraining order from his wife and the child which survived is adequate punishment. I came to this conclusion by imagining myself in his situation and nearly made myself violently ill in the process.

| Re: Hang him or hug him? Thing is if he is mentally ill which i kinda believe he is to do something like that then locking him up might not be the right thing to do. I allways thought being mentally ill wasnt an excuse for doing wrong things. But even living with Tracey and Evie and the little sleep the missus is getting I can see how stress and hormones can change a person quite dramatically. And what with the other story of the woman who burnt her house down and killed offspring due to post naetal depression you kinda wonder why doesnt anyone notice? |

| Re: Hang him or hug him? I don't believe anyone of a sound rational mind would do what he did. More and more is leaking out about his family history and piecing the few details together is giving a pretty bleak impression of this guys mental state. The surviving child would be deemed 'at risk' if he were to get back together with the wife, which is pretty unlikely. I must admit when I first heard about this my immediate impression was that he was attempting to punish his wife. This impression still stands with the increase in the details that are leaking out. The guy obviously has no coping strategies apart from destructive ones. I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't the first time he's tried this, but without the child.
