| Briskodian | Home Cinema Trilogy Marathon - Matrix, Star Wars, LOTR This weekend I've been enjoying a home cinema trilogy marathon over four days where I am watching - The Matrices, Star Wars Episodes I to III and the extended versions of Lord Of The Rings. It's a lot of time out of the day and night (9 hours each day) but I can't complain as the audio/visual immersion is just fantastic. Are there any resident experts or aficionados on these films as I have a few questions that I'd like answering - particularly with the Matrix and Star Wars films? |

| Briskodian | Re: Home Cinema Trilogy Marathon - Matrix, Star Wars, LOTR Star Wars questions - 1) I'm confused over the naming of the character played by Natalie Portman. I know that she has a decoy (Keira Knightly in Episode I) but irrespective of that she starts as Queen Amidala, then somehow changes into Senator Amidala in Episode II but is also refered to as Padme. Since when do queens suddenly change to senators and is Padme just her first name? 2) I'll be watching it tonight but at the start of Episode III, Amidala announces that she is pregnant (with the twins). By the end of the movie she is giving birth. Are we expected to believe that the story in the film represents several months of Star Wars shenanigans when it only seems to cover a couple of weeks? Perhaps the gestation period for Jedi's is much less than the 9 months for humans. 3) Can someone explain who was Cypher Dias (how do you spell it?) and why he ordered the cloan army? Did he die or is he one of the Sith's previous alias' who was a Jedi but then 'died' in the sense that he turned to the dark side much like Anakin dies and turns into Darth Vader? That's it for now. |

| Re: Home Cinema Trilogy Marathon - Matrix, Star Wars, LOTR 1) on Naboo the queen is an elected position for a few years. Once her time is up she can get another job such as senator. Oh , and Padme is her first name. 2) She was a few months gone at the start but yes the film is supposed to cover several months. 3) I *think* that it was Senator Palpatine who was involved in the order and may have used another name. He was manipulating both sides involved in the clone war and knew he would need an army to fight against the trade federation then use that to take poewr.

| Re: Home Cinema Trilogy Marathon - Matrix, Star Wars, LOTR Why only watch the worst trilogy in the Star Wars story? Why not 4,5 and 6? And when is 7,8 and 9 being made?

| Re: Home Cinema Trilogy Marathon - Matrix, Star Wars, LOTR I thought the idea was 9 stories, but the middle ones were the most exciting hence why they were done first. Then the first ones to help set the scene then the last 3 to finish it all off and then everyone lives happily ever after.

| Re: Home Cinema Trilogy Marathon - Matrix, Star Wars, LOTR Nope , it was originally a trilogy with "A new hope" written as a self contained story in case he didn't get to make the other films. In fact I think that the early prints didn't have any mention of Episode IV on the opening sequence. It was only when they realised they had a hit on their hands and the sequels were guaranteed that it was added. If you want more official Star Wars you'll have to wait for the TV show which probably won't start till 2008.

| Re: Home Cinema Trilogy Marathon - Matrix, Star Wars, LOTR A little something that annoys me about Starwars - Why is the technology better in the "new" episodes 1,2,3 ? Why in the past are they flying ships that look far more advanced than the X Wing and Tie fighters of the future? Dont care anyway they are all great films and having kids was a good excuse to go and see all the new ones at the cinema. ![]() |

| Briskodian | Re: Home Cinema Trilogy Marathon - Matrix, Star Wars, LOTR Thanks for your answers Dr Zoidberg. It all makes sense now. I would agree that Episode's I - III are not as good as the earlier IV - VI, although Episode III is pretty damn good in my opinion and as good as Return Of The Jedi. The reason I watched them is because I only bought Episode III recently and wanted to watch it in conjunction with the previous two. Episoded 7-9 might be made despite what George has said. It's not the first time he has gone back on his decision. Check this out for more information, http://www.supershadow.com/ Thinking about it, I should have gone there to get my questions answered. If were not already aware, the original versions of the Star Wars Episodes IV - VI are being released on DVD in September of this year complete with stereo sound, 'Han Solo shooting first' and minimal Mos Eisley city feel. |
