| Go Gadget Octy! | How difficult to rehome a kitten? SWMBO and I are looking to get a kitten. Rather than buy, we thought about rehoming and supporting the local animal charities. But they make it so hard. You never own the kitten, we can take back at any time, you must have 2 blah blah. If anyone knows of kittens near Northampton, so long as they're not £100's let me know. |

We got two, 12 yrs ago, from RSPCA but there were no stipulations then that I can remember. Maybe look in local adverts, ask friends.

| Re: How difficult to rehome a kitten? We got a rehomer recently and the charity we went to were ok. They brought the cat round to us so they could check the place was ok, then they popped back a week later to see if we were happy and collect their donation. The only promise we had to make was that if we couldn't look after the cat in the future that it goes back to them.

| Re: How difficult to rehome a kitten? my parents have got their last few kittens from local farmers for free or very cheap. We were offered one recently from a friend in young farmers. If you know any farmer folk in the area, it could be worth asking unless you're after a particular breed or pedigree... |

| Re: How difficult to rehome a kitten? Look on the bright side. If your kitten was to savagely attack the neighbours leaving them in hospital for instance, at least you wouldn’t be the owners of the beast and could get it returned to the Shelter. My mum has had cats for many years and every one of them has adopted her. Some have been semi-wild and been looking for food and warmth and 2 seem to have had owners, but run away from home around Bonfire night time. The end result is we always have a cat or 2 back at home. |

| Re: How difficult to rehome a kitten? Who are the charity in question? I don't think my friends have had any issues (other than them wanting to do a few checkup home visits) with the Cats' Protection League. The main thing to watch is getting the sort(s) of cat you want. One of theirs loves attention, even asking to be first to get combed because he likes it, and the other's not too bothered by people at all, except at meal times. |

| Re: How difficult to rehome a kitten? If you follow my mothers philosophy, then………………………………. ‘‘Build a catflap and they will come…………..’’ Honestly it does work (well in my Mums case it does). Cats that have run away from home recognise the flap and seem to know/smell if you are catless and therefore need a cat to fulfil your life. ![]() |

| Briskodian | Re: How difficult to rehome a kitten? Gadget Not sure where you are exactly, however there are almost always adverts in the 'Pet City' store on the Riverside Retail Park looking for homes for kittens. Not sure it's called pet city anymore but the set up is the same. Lance |

. He was obviously well cared for and a real ‘house cat’ but had no tags or chip on him. My mum thinks he ran away from his original home during the explosions as he has a huge fear of fireworks, even more so than most animals, but fell on his feet with adopting my mother. Most pampered cat in Britain I think![]() Sid .

![]() The one I was talking about who loves being combed has also been seen sitting and watching Ne'erday fireworks. Yes, it's odd for a cat to do that, but just proves my view that all cats are individuals.

| Re: How difficult to rehome a kitten? i got mine from the RSPCA in January, had a questionairre to fill in , but wasn't really a problem , £10 deposit , then £27 when collected , its flea'd , neutered and cat flu jabs done , so the price is quite reasonable

| Briskodian | Re: How difficult to rehome a kitten? Gadget Being the good citizen that I am, I just went to Riverside and noted the following number for you...07900082337. There were 2 lots of kittens linked to this number. 1 lot at at a bargain £40 & the 2nd at £100, however they had a fancy name. There were others, however they were £295 each, Persian rag dolls or something?? The phone number said any 0800 or with-held numbers will not be answered. Lance |

| Re: How difficult to rehome a kitten? I rehomed 2 cats 3 years ago from Battersea. I basically filled in a form, had a brief interview where I explained I had a cat previously and that was it. Picked my 2 moggies a couple of weeks later and that was it. Fizz ![]() & Gizz ![]() I would have thought either Cats Protection or RSPCA would have been best. Good Luck.

Not far from Riverside (well, East Northants). I've also contacted Cats protection too. They havent any yet, but have taken details. Edit, just been reminded by SWMBO that her nephew, he's 2 1/2, somehow has named pet city "Pets R toys". Obv we tell him thats not the case, but the stares we get sometimes
