How to gain lost weight re weight training pls?

Hi. From previous threads I know of www.muscletalk Are there any other sites you'd recommend please? The person in question is another mum's son on a different messageboard who was mugged = broken jaw so has been on "smoothies" as cannot chew and has lost about 21 lbs in a month! As much from initial trauma it's thought, but now feeling better and wanting to get in shape again asap (having been laid up)

Apparently he helps run a gym, is about 19 years; I don't know his weight, but he was previously benchpressing 18 stone and deadlifting 32 stone (sounds a heck of a lot to me). He's aware of protein shakes and usual fitness precautions (e.g. warming up etc).

If anyone knows of things I can pass on it'd be much appreciated, e.g. other sites even just for interest or handy tips to help recover "proper" weight, not just fat calories, if that makes sense.

Many thanks.

Mo

Wouldn't want to meet the guy who mugged him!!

As for bulking up, diet is the main thing, surely someone at this gym would be able to advise.

You can buy different versions of protein drinks, the one I use is purely protein, whereas there are others that also contain bulking agents - maybe these would help?

But as I said, diet is the most important part and unfortunately I am not qualified and can't advise further.

Re: How to gain lost weight re weight training pls?

surely if he helps run a gym then there should be lots of people about to give advice!......but if not....compound exercises, masses of protien and carbs, could even try mixing a good protien powder with a good weight gainer. As said above its in the diet, to gain weight he needs to eat more calories than he uses, so going out eating lots of calories then running it off wont have the desired effect. Last months mens fitness had a special in it about gaining lots of muscle in a month by sticking to the diet they gave and the exercises they say. It seems to work as a few guys in my gym tried it and have shown good results.

Re: How to gain lost weight re weight training pls?

Well, there's an online magazine here: Fitness | Muscle Fitness | Workouts | Abs Workout | Fitness Tips | Fitness Equipments | Fitness Trainer

Haven't found the particular article, but looks like a good source of info Ta for other replies also. Goochie: I wonder if tinned tuna is good also because it has added milk proteins like those used in whey drinks (aside from its natural protein and vit D.) Just musing on this.

I acknowledge that his gym ought to be able to offer advice - the query really arose as a mum thing - i.e. being the provider of the usual three square meals a day for someone who can't really chew yet, rather than just recommendations re supplements. The info is very welcome as it is a rather specialised dietary subject.

My thanks for the info

Mo

Plenty of nuts are meant to help apparently.

Cant remember which was best, I think it was almonds followed by hazelnuts.
