If there was a general election today who would you vote for?

There is much speculation around at the moment about Gordon Brown calling an election before Christmas.

IMHO the country needs a change but there is no credible opposition. Cameron comes across as a rich boy who's trying too hard to "lower" himself to the level of the great unwashed.

Gordon Brown on the other hand has made some common sense changes since he's been in charge.

Also IMHO, his recent decision to withdraw some British troops is a vote saving exercise that could see further reductions in the number of troops in Basra over the next few months.

So, who would win the Briskoda general election ? (anonymous poll)

EDIT: Please excuse the conservative typo in the poll options

Damn no Adolf option...

I can't not vote at the next one, however all the main parties are equally useless. I just hate this governments assault on my civil liberties and want the scum out.

Re: If there was a general election today who would you vote for?

Every election since we've been together, SWMBO and I have flipped for who votes Labour and who votes Tory. We don't really want either in power, but seeing how voter apathy is what parties like the BNP thrive on, we vote 'tactically' to keep them out, without giving either of the big two parties an advantage...

This is exactly what we do Fair enough, one of our votes could technically be the deciding vote one way or the other but that is fairly unlikely to happen.

If you dont vote you have no right to complain.

I will not be able to vote as I am not on the electoral register at this address, but if I could, it would be BNP, as usual

(Even a staunch Conservative friend has no confidence in them under DC's leadership.) You don't give a "Don't know" option, Goochie, so I've not voted.

Hopefully, if an election were to be called, then firm policies would emerge that we could consider. Unfortunately all parties are trying to be "green", raise pensions, lower taxes, fight crime etc, so nothing on which to base a choice at the moment IMO.

Regards
Mo

Re: If there was a general election today who would you vote for?

Blue for us every time at the moment.
Hate pretty much everything this government has done with immigration, taxes, health etc.
Wouldn't EVER vote lib dem as those b%@$£!! would sell us ever further down the europe route .
Have voted bnp a few times when they've been an option in locals but realisticly they're never gonna get in as most people are too afraid of the extreme views of some of the old school members.
Personally I think they'd bring a much needed breath of fresh air but then I've never been a fan of jonny foreigner .
Everyone's entitled to their opinion, this is just mine

I disagree. The way it is these days, the main parties are so desparate to occupy the political middle-ground, that I'm more bothered about who ISN'T in power than who is. It might not have a distinct outcome for any one party, but at least SWMBO and I are engaging in the political process...

Yup, that's the reason I'll never vote Lib Dem unless they change their all-in attitude to Europe. Shame really, as some of their other policies seem good to me.

I put my ballot paper in blank at the last election. The time before I voted UKIP, but got to the polling station last time and found I had the great choice of Con, Lab or Lib-Dem. So in it went, blank.

Dunno who I'll vote for next time. I live in a marginal, so it needs to turn blue if there's going to be any sort of change, even just a reduction in Labour majority. But our Labour MP is actually a bloody good MP and tends to put people before party. So I don't know.

Labour - again

As far as I can see it the country has never been in better condition. Yes, we all moan and whinge about Civil Liberties and many other grievancies but those of us with longer memories remember Thatcher days - the rape of the country, the unemployment of the Boom and Bust days and on and on.

Re: If there was a general election today who would you vote for?

I dislike all Governments intensely.

Which ever party that one votes for is going to be run by big business.

What do I mean? then I will explain:-

Gordon Brown has already been across the Atlantic to get his orders from Bush and also the normal obligatory meeting with the Builder burgers, as is the same for all heads of the western nations when they are elected or gain power.
The builder burgers are an organisation similar to free masons but made up of multinational corps, international financiers, and shady men in Grey suits. If you did not know this, then you have been wasting your time voting all these years.

You will of course end up getting screwed by who ever is so say in power, and you may just as well have a cardboard cut out, in number 10.

Soviet

P.S.

I firmly believe that Tony Blair, was told that he had to go to war in Iraq, and had very little say in the decision, or option, as America and the builder burgers have the whip hand, and the power to decimate British industry for none compliance, by shutting down foreign owned enterprises over here, in particular American and Japanese owned.

Is there really any point what so ever in voting, as we are completely run by the City whiz-kids, who in turn are accountable to America and the Builder burgers, and this is why who ever is in power will continue to privatise everything in site. The NHS and also the Royal Mail are being done gradually, and stealthily so as it does not look so obvious, and to stop a public rebellion about it. These are more or less the last two to fall in the hands of the privateers, and of course it is no accident that they are the last, because they are the most sensitive to public opinion.
Forget the mythical threat from the European Union, as the so called democratic governments that make up the organisation are also accountable to the builder burgers.

I agrree they've changed - they had to to become electable - but at least there is some element of care there unlike Maggie.
I think Brown is 'less fanciful' than Blair (who I still admire) and will get down to the real priorities.
Almighty bust - yes, a little scare with Northern Rock but I think we're dealing with a pretty astute character. And, in one way, who better to have as PM than ex-Chancellor who will be more aware of financial 'difficulties' than someone who, say, had been Foreign Secretary / Education Minister whatever.

Re: If there was a general election today who would you vote for?

I'd agree that there isn't any credible opposition and I for one was completely against Brown taking over without being elected. That said I think at the moment he is the best of a bad bunch to be honest.

Interesting to see that the media currently report a reasonable margin for Labour but that isn't reflected here yet.

You can still vote, either in person or by postal or proxy, at your old address, until the new Electroal Role comes into effect.

Hi good old Soviet here,

I rest my case as no one seems to want to listen to me, or have any opinion on what I have said.

Will some one take their blinkers off, and see the light. Or even just tell me to go swivel on it, which would be better than no reply!
