I'm now a fully fledged manager!

I've been working for the same company now for 7 years, started when i left school and have gone up the ranks from monkey technician to the top of the software support team. Yesterday i was offered to be support Manager, to say I'm chuffed is an understatement. I new the job was on the cards so I've worked my bottom off for the last 7 months basically doing the job but not having the role officially, it's all paid off now.

Means i get loads of extra little bonus's, have control of the 10 support staff and running of the desk, also the extra wedge will help

ha ha, well I've known everyone on the support desk for a good while. We are all friends so I'm not going to start being a **** to them now.

Best thing i can do is what my manager before me did and is lead by example, got a course in a few weeks that they want me to go on about time management and how to get the most out members of staff along with other stuff. We'll see how useful it is when it's been done!

Again thanks for the congratulations, means more things for the octy now

Re: I'm now a fully fledged manager!

Congrats!

But I have gone from being a "manager" to "admin support", albeit in a different company

I now earn more, work less hours and have more holidays, have a company pension, and less stress

I thought it was a main requirement to be able to say things like "leverage the synergies of our business paradigms" with a straight face?

Re: I'm now a fully fledged manager!

When my brother was made a Sales Manager some years ago, one of his team asked if he'd been circumcised. "Why's that?", he asked. "Because you need to be a complete c**k to be a manager in this company!"

Seriously, wel done. You've got into management in the best way -by working for it.
Good luck.

Phil
