| I'm worried... I dont usually post in this forum, but the wife has been to see the quack recently becuase she has found a large lump in one of her breasts. She found it a few weeks ago but only told me this morning. She is now being refered to the local hospital. She did not tell me because she knew it would throw me into a panic, and it has. All I can think of now is worst case ( probably being selfish) but its all thats going through my mind... She's only just turned 30! I read about cancer in the paper, and on TV. A work colleague of mine has been rushed into hostpital for cancer of the pancreas last week, and he is only 32. It's really freaking me out, but r'lass is as calm as anything..... Is there summat wrong with me considering she is as cool as she is? I cant fault her.

| Re: I'm worried... There is quite clearly nothing wrong with you for caring about your wife. I am sure many of us here would feel the same. Having said that, please don't panic unncessarily. It may well be harmless, particularly as your wife is young. Whatever happens, the very best of luck.

| Re: I'm worried... One of my dearest friends discovered a lump in her breast in her early 30s. She was very upset naturally, but her boyfriend and all her close personal friends remained positive and supportive whilst she went for scans and checks. She says to this day how everyone helped (even though we were all naturally upset and slightly concerned behind her back) with their attitude. The good news is her scans proved negative and when a few years later she discovered another lump she and us, were much better prepared for it and again it turned out to be a harmless cyst. Even better news was her Doctor changed her brand of Pill and she has had no further problems. So fingers crossed for your wife and yourself and try to remain positive for your wife’s sake. I have an idea how hard this must be for you, but obviously my experience was not anywhere near as intense or personal as yours. I wish you both good health and the ability to remain positive. | Re: I'm worried... Had something similar recently......yes you will and do worry all you can do is be there for her, support her, go with her while she has the tests done and hold her hand, don't let her go through it alone, work through it together and be positive together.......the very best to the both of you. Rob

| Re: I'm worried... Natural reaction when something like this happens to someone you love and care for but try to remain positive. I'm certainly no expert on such things but a lump could be caused by many things and not just the big 'C'. Your wife is young and whatever has caused the lump has been found early I assume which are both positive things to bear in mind. Just a thought but is there a history of breast cancer in your wifes family?? |

| Re: I'm worried... Thanks for all the positive encouragement. I'll tell her the Skoda community is thinking of her. We'll take each day as it comes, but have no real news until the hospital confirms her appointement to be looked at properly. She is keeping a very stong mental attitude, and TBH, thats helped to calm me down a lot. Cheers Folks.. ![]()

| Its the natural reaction, if you hear your partner / relative / friend is ill. Hang in there, be there for her, and remember that a lump isn't always so serious. Big hug to you both Heather ![]()

| Re: I'm worried... Understandable that you are worried. I am sure your support for her is a great help. Hope it turns out to be nothing serious. Know a couple of women who have had benign cysts removed. Chris

| Briskodian | Re: I'm worried... FWIW I often think that people deal with things far better when it's themselves and much, much worse when one is a bystander (well, if I'm anything to go by at least). I think the biggest hurdle is getting over the shock of "what might be" then one can settle down to how one can take whatever it is in one's stride. It's a very hard thing to stay in the middle of the two ends of emotion, so deep breaths and tell yourself you will cope with either. Easier said than done, so fortitude is my favourite word at these times. There's an expression about walking in another man's shoes. My best advice would be to put your own shoes on and walk in them, cos only the man who's shoes they are knows the direction in which he's going. My best regards Mo |
