Look them in the eye. Be confident. Don't lie or embellish facts. Smile.

Think before you speak - you want to make sure that you say the right things and are not thinking out loud. Have answers prepared for stock questions like why do you want the job, why should we pick you, what can you bring to the role, as well as trickier ones like what are your weaknesses, but try and make them sound unrehearsed.

A lot will also depend on how your interviewer comes across too. If you're getting on well, then you can push it a little. For example, I heard from a guy at work about someone he interviewed who replied to "What are your weaknesses?", "Girls in short skirts". Suffice to say, he got the job.

Be yourself, be confident and make everything you say a positive. You can do the job and this is why.......

Hiya. Expect to be asked many questions, some of which you should be able to answer without hesitation if you've done a bit of homework. For the ones you can't, concentrate on your natural charisma, especially if a large part of the job is connecting with others

Good luck

Mo

In which case you're doomed

Mention, sneak it in somewhere, you get on with everyone and also you get a kick out of helping people

Avoid saying 'erm' at all costs - it achieves nothing other than making you look like you haven't planned ahead. Instead, take a second of silence as you prepare your answer, and you'll sound far more composed when you deliver it. Don't be afraid to ask for clarification of any questions that seem vague, or to pose questions of your own in order to clear things up.

Good luck

That's a good point too - have some questions prepared so that when they ask you at the end you have something to say!

Good luck Mike, I've got an interview tomorrow. Wouldn't have got this far in the recruitment process if it wasn't for Mr Scooby, so listen to him!

Re: Interview next week, need some tips...

Be pleasent, polite and remember your manners, "yes please, no thank you, etc" questions like what are your weaknesses, answer something like "helping people before sorting my work load" or "taking on to much work". something thats always worked well for me. Try not to say the word "errrr" in your replies, look smart and try and look confident.

Re: Interview next week, need some tips...

Thanks for the advice everyone, but unfortunatly I buggered it up.
I walked out realising that I was probably too vague, and sure enough I got the call today saying the same things that I was thinking
The lady was very keen for me to try out for a different position and if I get that one, she will give me some one on one mentoring on interview techniques So its worth me applying for that for the time being and re-applying for the rep position next year.

Right, I need a pint now
