| Briskodian | Re: Job opinions please I think its the sort of role that woul dbe based in a "production office" near the shop floor. Basically the job involves doing all the little bits and bobs that the production manager/director doesnt have the time to do. Could be a rewarding position as it seems there is rom to make a difference but in some places these types of roles can be difficult because those around you wont see the advantages of changing. The company obviously has various issues associated with their manufacturing process and they're looking for someone to go in there and sort them out. |

| Re: Job opinions please Amazing how they write all that onerous-sounding stuff and then say it would be suitable for a graduate on a sandwich course! |

Sound like they have a problem, but not the cash to sort it out. If they want a recent graduate, then they are not going to get the right person with the experience required to sort out these problems. SWMBO can't believe that unlike the NHS (don't even go there.. the NHS is not the real world),companies don't tell you how much the job is paying, until you go for an interview. The answer is simple, 9 times out of 10, they want to get someone cheap, so they will wait to find out what you are already getting paid, before making you an offer.

| Briskodian | Re: Job opinions please I recently went for an inteview following an equally long-winded list of requirments. The guy said he'd done that to prevent applications from un-qualified school leavers who thought they'd "give it a go" Turned out it was a glorified admin job. |

| Briskodian | Re: Job opinions please I threw my CV in as it's at the place i already work. If i get an interview then great and if not then no loss. If i do and find it isn't what i want i can always walk away.

| Re: Job opinions please It seems to be a very involved project management role. The role is very much a coordination role requiring a good knowledge of quality assurance and quality control in association with understanding manufacturing techniques and technologies. However, they shoot it down at the end requiring only a little exposure to project management. They seem to think it is suitable for a new graduate or someone currently on a degree course, so there is one indicator that the role will not be paying what it is worth. This may also imply that the successful candidate may not end up doing all elements of the job spec because that may be tailored (reduced) to the candidates abilities or strengths. The warning that comes with it is that it may therefore only be short-term - like a year at most, thinking along the lines of the sandwich course - so it may expose you to new areas of work and/or skills, but at the end of that time you may also not have a job to go back to elsewhere within the company. It's also worth mentioning to your line management that you have applied, together with any reasons for doing so and to ask if they actually know anything about the role. Better coming from you than the interviewer if he/she goes looking for references from your current management. |

| Briskodian | Re: Job opinions please I have spoken to my manager and line manager about it and no they are not sure. Our place tends to take on a sandwich student then take them back afterwards. Tbh I will just have a chat with the bloke, but I couldn't go talk to him without applying. Therefore i put my CV in and will ask questions, if it isn't what i expect i won't be going there. Thanks all
