Generally though, they're good for the skin (opens the pores, makes you sweat the dirt out), you'll also sweat toxins out and they can also really loosen the phlegm in your respiratory system. It'll also increase metabolism, and if you've just done some exercise ( ) it'll help "warm down" your muscles.Like I say though, I know some people who swear to the above and more as benefits, and some who really don't feel any benefit from them... | Re: Joined a leisure club....... get in that bloody gym!!I joined David Lloyd last week, huge step up from me old gym I try and use the sauna and steam room 2-3 times a week, I find it relaxes me (and me muscles) after an intense workout...... I've only just got out the sauna actually about 20 mins ago I love the sauna, I intend to have one in my house as and when I can afford one ![]() Steam rooms me second choice usually after the sauna, good for the ol' respiratory system, sounds gay but they add mint to the steam room at DL, its good stuff But Colin............. GET IN THAT BLOODY GYM ![]()

| Re: Joined a leisure club....... Unless you choose an exercise you enjoy, the odds are it won't last. If the gym isn't your thing don't bother. Get out and do something you enjoy instead, in the fresh air If on the other hand it is your thing, promise you won't invest in any lycra ![]()

| Re: Joined a leisure club....... The sauna is an excellent hangover cure (drink plenty of water, though!), you'll also get the best shave of your life, if you can sneak your razor in, too. If you've eaten a curry, or a lot of garlic, you may find yourself stinking a bit, though! Always make me feel great. Phil |
