| just a courtesy? i used to hang out with a few people back sometime. one by one, we drifted, and the promises of staying in touch went too. i still see some of them from time to time, but not in the same relaxed and chummy way.. one from the group swapped mobile numbers with me, but we haven't spoken, let alone seen each other in about two years. i turn on my phone in the small hours to find a message. "hiya joe. it's xxxxxxxx. not heard from you in ages. i made your chocolate puddings the other week. i know, at last! This is my new number. Hope your doing ok. bye" Out of courtesy, i sent a text, given the hour, to say hi back and how they're doing (and wheres my pudding?!) but, after such a long gap, where they just being courteous in letting me know their new number? theres been a few people around here passing comments about me recently, so could it be something else? *cue rampant paranoia* |

| Time can sometimes zip by without you noticing....I think since they made the first move it shows they were thinking about you rather than just doing a 'courtesy call'

| Both of you are quite correct. I really should just chill out and take people more at "face value" rather than over analyse. Was rather nice, in a "surprise" friendly way, to hear from them. Makes a change from the usual marketing cold calls, junk sms from Esporta and "can you bring xxx from the supermarket" type calls. ![]() |

| Briskodian | Mornin' Gwilo Being the analytical sort also, I'd think he'd come across my name when updating his address book people with his new number. Therefore I'd be delighted not only that he'd made the effort, but also because he had taken the trouble to send a personalised message ![]() If you were good mates, why not send another text saying how pleased you were to hear from him and has he got a fancy new phone?, for example. I guess you could then judge from the reply whether a pint is on the cards. A meet to reminisce about the good times should be good fun shouldn't it? and might help to balance your heavy load at the moment. I suspect time might well fly again after that, but it just does these days, as JRHartley's already said. Just my thoughts, Mo |

| If I update people with my new number, I make it impersonal such as 'hi, its 'MOOSE' here, just letting you know my new number'. The one you got was a personalised one and take that as a 'I'm thinking of you'.
