| lol at drive the deal!! just had a customer come in asking us to price match drive the deal, when i asked him for a printout of the actual quote, he couldnt get me one. i asked why, he said they were gonna charge him for the privledge of a qoute!! how much i ask??? £35 quid!!!!!!!!!!! then the guy says he wont be buying today even if i could match the internet price. so i thanked him for his time and took his details to follow up in the future.maybe thats why they can do such good deals, charging 35 quid for a printable quote and then only offering to refund 50 percent if they buy from them must give them a nice little side earner, and a pot of money to help discount the cars ![]() next time someone asks me for a quote to compare online i might just say, " yes sir/madam of course i'll give you a quote to go shopping about with, that'll be 30 quid please" ![]()

| Re: lol at drive the deal!! But surely, spending £35 quid, to save potentionally thousands is worth it?

so if a dealer said to you, yes i'll beat that price from where ever, but it will cost you 30 pounds, as it will take me a bit of time to go and find where and how to discount the car to get to that price. would you pay it?

| Briskodian | Re: lol at drive the deal!! This is sort of on topic. National-Clamps parking warning notices have recently arrived on local roads. They looked a bit iffy to me but a trawl of the Net tells me they are nationwide, a valid company etc. etc. (but certainly quick off the mark re clamping). They themselves have said in the past however, that they sell their signs as a deterrent to bad parking, which often does the trick so no clamping is needed and that the income from selling signs is greater than that from clamping activities. If you see the parallel, they make money from selling signs and I guess car people make money from £35 per quote irrespective of any business actually realised. I'm not sure how a forecourt dealer could emulate that, since a person can see what they can see already, but if they ask you for a "full detailed quote in writing", then why not direct them to your own website, at say £34.99 per quote? You're funny. If you don't use ctrl + alt + printscreeen you can get a price on the screen and then print it. £35 will save thousands on the current dealer prices and since they come from a dealer there must be some wiggle room in there. I managed to get a dealer to better the DTD price on a MK I furball VRS so it can't be that bad. The DTD price was already £2k and a bit under the dealers price. Quote:

| Go Gadget Octy! | Re: lol at drive the deal!! On the BBC morning news thingy they had a bit about wedding shops charging £50 to try out dresses due to time wasters, and it was hinted that car dealers might consider similar to stop time wasters simply wanting to seee what a new car is like, with no intention of buying. |

If somebody is looking to buy a certain type of car they will try out a load of them fist to see what they think. Once they have driven cars they know which ones they hate and like and will narrow it down. Do that and you won't have anybody trying the cars.
