Maderia, a lovely place

Nice to walk, sit and relax. Interesting to drive; the biggest traffic jam was about 6 cars in length

Was there for the honeymoon and we had a great time. Although we were also quite young as one local put it to be visiting (30's somethings)

I managed to to the brit on holiday thing and fall into a pool of water in the middle of a walk; in front of loads of people..hey ho I was dry about an hour later; I love that sun

Photo's, well I'll get some published soon enough, need to rehydrate the mash in my head for work tomorrow

Photos: First is the second highest sea cliff in the world nd the highest in Europe at 580ish meters, pretty much straight down.

Second: Early morning on the mountains of Maderia; we'd got up for the sun rise so went for a walk too Peaks are about 1800m, walk from one (car park at 1790m) to the other is a round trip of 14kms with alas over 1800m of ascent and descent on steps and inclines...jolly good walk mind on a cracking path, third gives you an idea; I reckon it's the steepest bit, but not the hardest bit

Last one; well Maderia is a young place, volcanic so you get to see this sort of formation.

What I love is, thinking how Scotland must of once looked, torridon and skye and so on...so much weathering...but not out there, so go and enjoy a few days.

Re: Maderia, a lovely place

Madeira is a lovely island, I was really surprised how beautiful it is. I kind of like the fact that young folk stay away as it would be spoiled by loads of discos and nightclubs etc. It's a haven for relaxation and wonderful views.

Yep, it was a...oh there is a nice rock over there. Hold the camera Clare and get a pic of me on 'ther side.

I got both feet over, then one slipped on the teflon Maderian moss, and in I went backside first.

Fortunately for others the guides of the day had seen it happen many times before. So they did not intervene, instead got there cameras out and have some cracking pics. I'll try to get them as it was dam funny even for me

Been there, worn the Tshirt etc - you gotta laugh.
Last time I did it was dragging airline out from pump at Asda - and someone put a kerb in between time . So I did a sweet little roll and got up to a lot of grinning faces - including the mother of one of my daughter's friends
