| Moving to South Devon. After such a good holiday, the journey back made me realise i no longer want to live up here and i'm now looking into moving to South Devon. I'm going to be leaving my job and hopefully going into the police, coastguard or driving for Stagecoach Devon but i'm just wondering if anyone on here knows of cheap accomodation to rent or which websites are the best to look on. I've had a quick look on www.thisissouthdevonhomes.co.uk but there aren't many places available. Any help please???

| Briskodian | Re: Moving to South Devon. Cheap, Devon and Accomodation are not usually words you find in one sentence ![]() You are aware of the long delay between being accepted for the Police and actually getting a job? They will also ask for references from your current employer and details of sick days etc. A former colleague had 1 sick day to many so failed at the first hurdle. However, because they'd asked for a reference, the boss knew he wanted to leave and made his life hell. Someone else had a boss who was asked for a reference 18 months before the Police had a place for him. 18 months of the boss knowing you're leaving can feel awrkward. |

| Re: Moving to South Devon. Police waiting time is huge... 18 months is about right. Especially if you want to move to an area like Devon... Even the Met has a long waiting list...

| Re: Moving to South Devon. One of my best mates is an instructor for Stagecoach in Exeter. There'll certainly be no problem getting in there if that's what you want to do - they're always looking for drivers. As for accomodation, you're probably best coming down to Devon for a few days and going around all the estate agents in the particular area you want to live. I recommend Exeter of course - you'll be able to start supporting a good football team too instead of that tin pot club up in Coventry !!! Have a look at www.thisisexeter.co.uk and www.exeter-estateagents.co.uk Can't speak for the rest of Devon, cos I wouldn't want to live anywhere else! Steve. | Re: Moving to South Devon. Cheers for the replies and websites. I do know about the waiting time for getting into the police, i've been waiting an age to get into West Mids police, that's why i'm looking at driving for Stagecoach in the mean time. I was told that some police forces have accomodation for recruits to stay in, so i could remain up here until a job came up and my life is already made hell but that could be sorted by going to the union. My sick leave is okay and i haven't been off for more than a day or 2 in the last 2 years, so hopefully that should be fine. I talked to one of my mates last night about moving down with me and he said he'd think about it but i can't see it happening as his missus won't allow it!!!! Won't be moving down with my missus as i can't see it lasting much longer and she's due to go to Australia for 2 years next year!!!
