| My Address I have a problem... I think the previous owners of my house have been using my address over a year after they sold it..... I found out that they were what one could call dodgy!! I was wondering if anybody has had this happen to them and what I can do about it? It was ok at first, just the few leters after they moved but yesterday we got a letter through, and I opened it accidentally as I wasn't expecting any mail for them and the letter was from an insurance company regarding an accident in a hire car. The date of the accident was last November and it was our house long before then and she's given our address as the contact. Is this illigal, as she's giving a false address and what can i do about it as it seems to me she's trying to dodge the insurance company? I would say it amounts to fraud? Any comments welcome, Ben ![]() p.s. Whoop whoop people.....IT'S FRIDAY!!!!! Yippee, anybody going to a halloween party this weekend? I'm going as the wicked witch of the westcountry, I'll post a pic if the outfit looks good!! ![]()

| Re: My Address Sounds highly illegal to me. I'd contact the insurance company and offer to prove you have owned and lived in the house since way before that date, and purchased it from the named individual. Next up would be a check on your credit history and the house etc.......

Maybe a cauldron of cider? ![]() On main topic - "Return to sender" will work. Just takes time to clear their name from your address. I've been in a similar position with a previous tenant at my place. The storm has more or less calmed right down now.

| Briskodian | Re: My Address Just a note re returning letters to sender. Our local sorting office said a while ago that they don't return mail as it's not a service they'll be paid for, given they are now running a business on the same grounds of profit-making as their competitors. Dunno if that's even correct or universal across the UK, just what they said. In a similar situation, several letters arrived from a company (which I re-posted as Gone Away), then one arrived clearly from bailiffs, which I "accidentally" opened since I didn't want them breaking my door down. I wrote a letter to the company who had transferred the debt to collectors and all quiet since then. Letters from other companies still arrive occasionally (it's several years now), which also seem to get opened along with my own mail; I really must be more careful. Re Halloween, I've got some bright red nail varnish, which I thought I'd paint on nails and dawb on fingers of just one hand ... Mwahahaha... Regards Mo |
