| Go Gadget Octy! | Starting a new job soon and getting my first company car with it. They have choices on car of a Passat or mondeo estate, and one guy requested an Octy (well done!). I'm assuming the usual suspects around the £18k mark. Now as I already have my loaded elegance mk2, I'd like another octy. However I'm concerned at a) not have xenons, maxidot and MFSW and b) the thieving tax man. So what is my best option to have something nice as my 'office', but not highly taxable. I know the fuel tax issue, and my contract will be worded that private mileage is MY responsibilty, must refund the company @ *p/mile and failure to acurately disclose is grounds for dismissal. I'll also have to detail all my jobs/appointments to ensure my mileage tallies up - no biggy as I have MY car for personal use. So if I did go for the Octy, which version and should I get extras? |

| Re: New job, first company car You can get a 1.9 L&K for 18k. All the toys and economical. EDIT You can't get the new L&K in 1.9 so just ignore me!

| Go Gadget Octy! | Re: New job, first company car LOL, funny enough was thinking L&K, although pricey for tax me thinks. I'm also assuming, which ever car I end up with, the drug dealer window tints are a must for an estate? Or will they actually give me unwanted attention & smashed rear quarters than if left std? |

| Re: New job, first company car Any chance you can wangle an extra £600, you may be able to negotiate it from a dealer. Volkswagen UK > Models > Golf Estate > Sportline ?? Tax is based on the purchase price of the car and the emissions. So 18k is 18k, it's the engine that will make a difference. Polo Bluemotion?? ![]()

| Go Gadget Octy! | Re: New job, first company car ROFLMAO. Has to be an estate I'm told. I tried the old "just give me a car allowance and I'll use mine. They have a 'spare' mondeo, but hints are I'll get something new from their chosen supplier/lease firm. Thoughts were Elegance/L&K in Flame Red. |

| Re: New job, first company car Sure you don't fancy the golf estate in the link I posted, i've seen a black Sportline in the metal and it looks a very very nice.

| Re: New job, first company car You should be able to opt out of the company car scheme, then use your current car and take the cash instead.

| Re: New job, first company car A lot of the CC lists are made up from total cost of the lease, rather than an initial purchase price - our company will give you a specced up 170 A3 over an Octy because the lease costs are lower. Wait until you see the list before making a decision, there might be something you haven't considered that's perfect for you - also, actually look at the Passat, Mondeo etc - you might actually prefer them...
