| No Claims Bonus Entitlement..... So I've just got a letter through from a certain insurance company regarding my NCB entitlement They say " we can confirm 4 years NCB has been earned" I've had a license since June 1996, and a car, insured and registered in my own name since around xmas of that year. I've taken out insurance every year and there has never been any question asked when I've said X number of years NCB. So what gives? When i took out the policy, the forms said "Maximum NCB" And now they're turning round and saying "oh it's only four years" That suggests I didn't actually have any car insurnace till I bought the Skoda back in 2001.. So, have the insurance companies agreed some sort of cut-off point, or are they being a bunch of ?Just need to know who to bite the head off when i call them. I can see my insurance going up again (as I said "maximum" to brentacre last week..... ) |

| It should be in years not 'maximum', get hold of your previous insurer and ask for proof that at the time you left them, you had x years NCB. Then get the letter you have in your hand to prove how much you have. Or call Brentacre to see what they say? Oh and dish the dirt, who's the dodgy insurer?

| I've had this problem in the past as well. I actually have something like 18 years NCD (being 36, and having a car insured in my name since I was 17) but hardly any insurer recognises or shows that number of years. It's fairly academic once you reach a certain stage - but pushing it down to 4 is fairly poor. My current (esure) policy states 12 years - oh well!

| aha! Problem resolved. More Than only count to four years my last insurer (Zurich, or Eagle Star as was when I went with them) gave me paperwork saying 5 years....... Queried More Than, who concede the computer does say five years ... So, another letter is being sent out.... Will ring Brentacre later on and let them know what's happening etc. It's such a joy, this car insurance lark. Remap better be worth it... ![]() |
