| Re: Nuclear Secrets BBC2 9pm today I think last week was about Los Alamos and the Japanese weapons. This week seems to be about the russians trying to catch up and take the lead with the H bomb. read this a few years ago Amazon.co.uk: Dark Sun (Sloan Technology Series): Books: Richard Rhodes scary stuff and not too technical for the non-physicists amongst us

| Re: Nuclear Secrets BBC2 9pm today "duck and cover!", "duck and cover!" - I s'pose they had to tell people to do something... I recall some series about 15-20 years ago which showed a "typical" nuclear attack plan for a metropolitan area (i.e. London). Let's put it this way, if you were lucky you may live long enough to get an accurate count of all the mushrooms springing up. Not that there'd be anyone/anything left to tell about it.J.

| Briskodian | Re: Nuclear Secrets BBC2 9pm today I didn't see the first two programmes, but am earmarking the next two, which seemingly bring us up to the present day. Re your post, vindaloo, about those public service broadcasts, I seem to recall one that was re-broadcast a few years ago where the plan was not to panic and hide under the nearest table. Hopefully, we all know now that we all need to have stronger tables. Regards Mo |

| Re: Nuclear Secrets BBC2 9pm today There's two books by the same author, the first one (I haven't read, can't rmemebr the name) details the development of the A-bomb in depth. The one I plugged, summarises the a-bomb enough for you to understand the development of the H-bomb, including the the political/espionage side of things that the tv prog covers too. When I tuned into the first episode I thought it was going to be about nulcear power but hey ho ![]() Although seeing that last year marked 50 years of nuclear power and some people seem keen on starting it up again, maybe the BBC should do a prog on that too.
